Salary: $65,000 - $70,000
Job Summary:
The Human Resource Generalist will support the Human Resources Department and act as the first point of contact for HR–related queries from employees. This position will ensure our HR department supports our employees while conforming to labor laws. The duties of this role include employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, payroll, audits, drives performance reviews and training. Additionally, this role will be responsible for maintaining personnel records, managing HR documents (e.g., employment records and onboarding guides) and updating internal databases. The Incumbent must be fluent in both Spanish and English.
Duties/Responsibilities:

- Under the supervision of HR Management, handles the entire employee life cycle including handling any employee issues, termination of employees and disciplinary procedures.
- Actively engages with employees to represent HR as a safe, friendly, and welcoming employee resource, and actively works towards keeping employees feeling content in the workplace.
- Recommends and develops employee relations practices to foster a positive employer-employee relations.
- Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures as it pertains to the following: payroll, performance management, compensation, and benefits.
- Administers the compensation program; monitors the performance evaluation program and works with the senior HR management team with suggestions or concerns.
- Administers the LOA programs, processes applicable paperwork and disability claims if needed for employees on site.
- Assists management in the performance review process providing input and feedback on performance evaluations.
- Develops and maintains affirmative action programs; files EEO-1 report annually; maintain other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
- Handles employees relations onboarding, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing.
- Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
- Responds to the DOL pertaining to unemployment information requests.
- Keeps abreast of changes in HR law to continue to maintain compliance.
- Supports employees by answering questions (in Spanish or English as needed) accurately and thoroughly while conforming to labor laws.
- Listens to, documents, and investigates employee concerns and/or complaints.
- Responsible for the payroll to include transmitting payroll, handing out payroll checks, answering any questions about payroll, and communicating any issues, etc.
- Recruits hourly staff for the facility. Updates facility, HR, and upper-level management on the status of new hires, applicants, and recruitment efforts.
- Issue offer letters and company agreements to new hires.
- Inputs background requests and monitors for completion.
- Conduct New Employee Orientation.
- Updates the ADP system for new hires and all employee changes. (HRIS System)
- Drives the 30/60/90-day reviews and works with the team lead to ensure completion.
- Update recruitment tracker and Time-to-Fill spreadsheets.
- Provides current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, promotional opportunities, and employee benefits.
- Assists in training, development, and support of employees in order to ensure employees can excel at their role.
- Maintain general office files. Organize and maintain employee records accurately.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resources files and records.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Acts as a liaison between employees and external benefit providers and vendors.
- Assists with planning and execution of special events.
- On a timely basis, will report any issues, or important information to HR management.
- Performs clerical duties such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, and preparing documents, including office correspondence, memos, resumes, and presentations.
- Assist in welcoming visitors and directing them to the relevant office/employees.

Required Skills/Abilities:

- Knowledgeable in both federal and California Dept. of Labor rules.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
- Ability to diplomatically balance advocating for both the best interests of the company and the employees.
- Must possess a welcoming, positive, and empathetic demeanor toward employees to support employee morale and aid employees in feeling comfortable to come to HR with concerns, while also being able to tactfully and firmly enforce policies and deliver corrective action when needed.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or closely related field and at least 3 years of experience with compliance/audits, employee relations, recruiting, and payroll. 5 years of experience is preferred.
- Fluently bilingual in Spanish and English is a must.
- HR certification or a master’s degree in HR or business is preferred.
