Job Description: Registered Dental Hygiene Assistants make patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair. To achieve this, the Registered Dental Hygienist Assistant performs a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. Some of these responsibilities include preparing patients for dental hygiene procedures, sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials, schedule appointments, prepare bills and receive payment for dental services, complete insurance forms, and maintain records, must be comfortable with performing tasks on a computer.

Job Specific Expectations:
Expose dental diagnostic X-Rays
Record treatment information in patient records
Take and record medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients.
Polish teeth, using dental instruments including cleaning and polishing removable appliances.
Assist hygienist with perio charting and doctor's exam.
Assist hygienist in Scaling and Root Planing Procedures.
Apply protective coating of fluoride to teeth.
Placement of sealants as prescribed by dental hygienist and dentist.
Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.
Provide postoperative instructions prescribed by dental hygienists and dentists.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and push up to 100 pounds frequently (on wheels) Must be able to work on feet for long periods of time without tiring
Must be able to hear adequately to auscultate B/PS
Must have adequate vision to read x-rays
Must be able to reach above shoulder level to work.
Must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouching, reaching, kneeling, twisting with comfort
Must have high manual dexterity and tactile sensation on fingertips
