Summary/Objective:

The Director champions the importance of inclusion, diversity, equity and accountability. The Director will recommend, participate in the creation, and execute upon the strategy to create and promote a culture where individuals from all racial and ethnic identities, ages, nationalities, social and economic status, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, religious, political and ideological perspectives, and physical and mental abilities are able to thrive and be engaged.


Essential Functions:


  • Partners with key stakeholders and participates in the creation and definition of the overarching vision and strategy to support an inclusive, diverse, equitable and accountable organization. Leads the implementation of strategic initiatives to create a culture that supports inclusion, diversity, equity and accountability for all individuals.
  • Plans, guides and advises the senior leadership team on inclusion, diversity, equity, accountability and affirmative action matters.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to assess potential barriers and develop strategies to recruit and retain a diverse workforce.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to assess the need for, and recommend training initiatives which may include cultural competency, gender differences, disability, sexual harassment, and other topics designed to increase awareness and support of inclusive and equitable values, while maintaining compliance with applicable laws.
  • Oversee compliance with Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, and other applicable requirements.
  • Develops and monitors key performance indicators to allow for effective measurement of the Foundation’s progress. Assesses and monitors program effectiveness and keeps the senior leadership team informed through periodic reports.
  • Performs other related duties.

Position Type (Regular/FT; Casual/PT)/Expected Hours of Work Per Week:

Regular/FT/37.5 hours/week


Required and Preferred Education and Experience:

Required: Ability to perform the duties of the position usually acquired through a bachelor's degree in business administration, sociology, human resources, psychology or other related field plus 5-10 years of experience advancing inclusion, diversity, equity, and accountability in a complex organization; 3-5 years of experience working in an affirmative action and EEO compliance function

Preferred: Master’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution. Professional certification in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Experience in a not-for-profit organization.

The successful candidate will be an innovative, strategic and results-oriented leader with a broad vision for the role of diversity in achieving institutional excellence. S/he must be adept at facilitating difficult discussions, shepherding change, creating and strengthening partnerships, and aligning an array of efforts across the university. In addition, the successful candidate must have:

  • Demonstrated success as a collaborator and relationship builder, with strong interpersonal skills and ability to build coalitions and collaborative working relationships with a broad range of diverse individuals and groups, including senior executives, to achieve results
  • Strong track record in managing change with an understanding of the contexts, cultures and politics within institutions that impact the implementation of effective diversity change efforts
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and agility and ability to build trust, credibility and navigate a complex landscape
  • Demonstrated success in identifying and implementing best practices of diversity and inclusion and an excellent command of modern diversity and inclusion concepts and issues
  • Demonstrated success in working collaboratively to develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies focused on building a diverse workforce
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with experience in multiple communication modes, with the ability to articulate the importance of inclusion, diversity, equity and accountability to all audiences.
  • Knowledge of ADA, Affirmative Action, EEO and other applicable laws and regulations.
