SALARY: $90,000.00 ($83,376.00 base salary + $552.00/month shortage differential); SR-22, BU:13, Step M

The Imaging Clinical Navigator interacts professionally with a variety of people across multiple disciplines, demonstrating actions and attitude that contribute to the success of patient navigation through the Imaging examination and/or procedure process.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Assess patient’s ability to navigate through the healthcare system and identify possible barriers to receiving Imaging exams and/or procedures.
  • Screen patients for needed medication management, required lab results and/or any preparation necessary for the ordered Imaging exam/procedure.
  • Assist referring physician and/or physician office staff in initiating pre-authorization requests to insurance providers as required per exam/procedure.
  • Provide routine follow up of pre-authorization requests for patients pending scheduling of an Imaging exam/procedure.
  • Direct supervision of the diagnostic radiography section and Imaging Assistant staff, including preparing work schedules and assignments and coordination of daily workflow.
  • Coordination of diagnostic radiography equipment maintenance.
  • Operates x-ray equipment, fluoroscopy, or other similar types of equipment using standard or modified imaging techniques in accordance with the hospital and/or department policy and procedures, protocols and quality standards.
  • Sets up, fixes and adjusts immobilization devices as necessary.
  • Prepares oral, IV, and enema contrast materials relative to exam indications and requirements.
  • Assists patients with the removal of all radiopaque articles of clothing or jewelry that may hinder the site of study.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from an approved program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Excess work experience as described below in the experience requirement section or any other responsible professional work experience; which provided knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to those acquired in four (4) years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree from an approved program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

EXPERIENCE: Two and one-half (2 ½) years of imaging technologist/ specialist experience which demonstrated a thorough knowledge of imaging procedures and imaging workflow to include registration, scheduling, exam process, imaging interpretation and image and report management. Of the two and one-half (2 ½) years of specialized experience, one (1) year must be in an imaging environment utilizing the basic concepts of imaging production on a digital system and the ability to fully use and apply standard principles, theories and concepts related to imaging informatics.

SUPERVISORY APTITUDE: Demonstrates aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involved some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader, or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capability exists; by completion of training courses on supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.

CERTIFICATION: A current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography (R). BLS is required within six months of employment.

LICENSURE: A current State of Hawaii Radiologic Technologist license as a radiographer.

MEDICAL/PHYSICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT: Offers of employment will be contingent on successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, two-step tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for physical examinations, except the cost for drug screening, shall be borne by the applicant and not the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC).

COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT: COVID-19 vaccination is a condition of employment for Hawaii Health Systems Corporation. After receiving a Conditional Offer of Employment, all prospective new HHSC employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. New employees are required to provide confirmation of their full vaccination status by presenting their CDC vaccination card or VAMS certificate prior to their start date.
