Under the direction of the Village Services Manager
Maintains and repairs equipment related to plumbing around the resort. Works with and assists other trades to maintain/repair mechanical and other building systems. Enjoys working in the mountain environment.

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility
  • Maintains and repairs all plumbing equipment such as drains and pipes. Repairs a variety of equipment (i.e. exchangers, boiler equipment, kitchen equipment, water pumps, pressure valves, steam cleaners, etc…)
  • Comfortable working on Hydronic heating / cooling, domestic water, sewer, drain and compressed air systems, above and below ground, up to ~10” line size.
  • Installs new plumbing equipment and systems for renovation and remodeling projects.
  • Repairs mechanical equipment when necessary.
  • Responsible for care and maintenance of all equipment used.
  • Requires exercise of judgment within policy guidelines and without supervisory approval.
  • Requires Experience and problem-solving skills in determining piping layout without plans, as well as expertise in reading existing plans.
  • Ability to independently determine and order correct parts for projects, completed work orders. Research pricing information in catalogues, prepares requisitions and delivers to supervisor. Check in parts with purchasing to verify that it is the correct order.
  • Ability to correctly estimate labor and schedule required for projects.
  • Plumbing material shall be installed to code, and with the safety of the guest in mind.
  • Works with an apprentice plumber in order to maintain an accurate inventory.
  • Makes decisions involving safety and welfare of apprentice.
  • Follows safe practices on the job or while on Snowbird property, and abides by all rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Occasional contact with guests.
  • Direct and continuous contact with co-workers, management, and other departments.
  • Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.
  • Works with various vendors or companies researching parts, materials and pricing.

Education & Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have 4 years job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.
  • Facility maintenance experience preferred.

Specific Requirements:
  • Must have a current driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a Utah Journeyman Plumbing License.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

Technical
  • Requires plumbing and mechanical skills along with the ability to trouble shoot and repair problems to meet code requirements.
  • Reports all safety hazards or concerns to a supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Must be familiar with the safe and proper use of equipment including tools, solvents and chemicals used at the resort.

Administrative
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Requires use of simple arithmetic with accuracy in counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records of work performed, record parts orders and work orders.
  • Requires plumbing and mechanical skills.

Working Conditions

Work Schedule:
  • General working hours from 8:00am-4:30pm with occasional overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays with occasional night shifts.
  • Position requires rotating on-call shifts, emergency call out and extended hours.

Physical:
  • Work is subject to some interruptions, outdoor work in all weather conditions, noise and dirt. Physical activity includes the ability to lift 100 lbs., frequent bending, and stooping, crouching and extensive muscle exertion.
  • Required to use hand and power tools normally use by building mechanics.
  • Operates plumbing equipment such as drain snakes and plungers.

Mental:
  • Requires the ability to work alone and with other employees.
  • Occasional stress from deadlines and customer department demands for equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • May experience stress from the commute to Snowbird, road closures and snow nights.
  • Travel: Travel between lodges and various areas at Snowbird. Occasionally travels to the Salt Lake Valley to pick up parts.
