Job Summary


Minnesota State Community & Technical College social media & marketing specialist will develop an impactful strategy across its marketing communications platforms to advance the brand, support enrollment growth, and strengthen stakeholder relationships. This role is primarily responsible for the day-to-day administration, content development, and management of all college social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.) to maximize engagement and build brand awareness. This includes the collaboration of the editorial calendar and annual social media strategy creation. This role will use digital marketing tools and analytics to provide reports and recommendations to ensure the College remains current and competitive as the social media/digital landscape evolves. The Specialist will work on various marketing activities and projects that support the College's strategic goals, create innovative content and will have the ability to collaborate with team members across the College and externally to align our digital, social media, and other marketing and communication strategies with the M State brand.

Responsibilities

  • On a daily basis, live the mission, vision and values of M State to ensure a positive experience for all students and stakeholders. Service to M State students and stakeholders is a core component of the position and work responsibilities.
  • Oversee all college social media channels.
  • Digital advertising.
  • Assist in developing and creating reports, using analytics to track activity and maintain/create social media guidelines.
  • Content creation, branding and marketing assets.
  • Provide support for campus and college operations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in digital communications, digital marketing, public relations, communications, business, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of one year of working experience in social media marketing or as a digital media specialist.
  • Excellent consulting, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills. Strong creative, visual, and typographic skills with demonstrated ability to present and explain ideas clearly and create visual presentations.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of current online social media platforms and social analytics tools knowledge.
  • Understanding of marketing and branding principles.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of project management experience in a social media environment.
  • Graphic design and video production experience.
  • Search engine optimization experience.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce, Canva, Google Analytics, and Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Photoshop, Premier or Final Cut Pro.
  • Understands and researches trends in social media and digital marketing.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate current platforms and campaigns to determine effectiveness. Proficiency in data-driven decision-making.
  • Proven experience within a higher education setting – specifically marketing to diverse audiences.

Additional Requirements

In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
