Instrument Technician (Paulsboro Refining Company)

Overview

The Paulsboro Refining Company is located on the Delaware River in Paulsboro, NJ. The refinery has a crude oil processing capacity of 168,000 barrels per day. This refinery is owned by the PBF Energy.

Description

The Instrument Technician is responsible to troubleshoot, repair, and install complex instrument and process monitoring equipment.

Basic/Required Qualifications

o Must be willing to perform/comply with the following: read and interpret Schematic Drawings, Wiring and Interconnect Diagrams, Loop Drawings, P&ID's, Process Flow Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, and ISA symbols.

o Troubleshoots, installs, calibrates, repairs and maintains flow, level, pressure, differential pressure, and temperature transmitters, transducers, controllers, control valves, regulators.

o Maintains PLC’s, Honeywell TDC 3000, Enraf tank gauges, and safety interlocks.

o Working with diagnostic and test equipment such as voltmeter, ammeter and megger.

o Demonstrate knowledge of OSHA safety standards.

o Working with and assisting other maintenance craft personnel as needed.

o Demonstrate basic computer skills (SAP and Outlook).

o Associate trade school degree in Instrument Technology, Electronics or Electrical major or equivalent experience in a Petrochemical Industrial environment.

o Must hold a valid driver's license.

o Must be eligible to qualify for a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC card) or currently hold this identification card.

Conditions of employment may include:

o Meeting physical qualifications of the job classification (e.g. climbing, lifting); respirator fit testing; passing drug and alcohol screenings.

Passing a written test and a physical demonstration test; as well as demonstrate on the job proficiency in areas described above.
