The Havertys Design Consultant role:

Are you an Interior Designer, or interested in furthering your career as an Interior Designer by gaining design experience? Havertys Furniture is now hiring a Design Consultant working in Lexington at 2150 Paul Jones Way.

We are seeking top Design Consultant or Design Graduates to work at Havertys furniture helping to create dynamic Home Décor designs for our Clients.

We offer a guaranteed income base plus an uncapped commission structure. Your typical retail schedule is five days a week including Saturdays and Sundays. Position may require evening and weekend work at hours convenient to the Customer’s schedule.

Successful Havertys Design Consultants:

You must also be highly organized and able to maintain a responsive follow-up schedule. It is also important that you display excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to connect and establish relationships with a diverse group of customers. Successful Havertys Design Consultants excel in creating presentation targeted to their customers’ needs and help to bring the vision of their home to life.

Specific qualifications for the role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Interior Design or related field or 2 to 4 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ASID Certification preferred but not required
  • Ability to work a retail schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must have a current valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must be able to drive and provide reliable personal transportation to Customer in-home appointments
  • Verification of minimum state required car insurance required
  • Excellent preparation and organizational skills
  • Positive and engaging personality
  • Creative flare and energetic attitude
  • Ability to overcome customer objections
  • Familiarity with a broad range of furniture styles and products
  • Computer proficiency including email experience required; knowledge and use of Microsoft Office and Room Planner software required; Tablet/iPad operation abilities strongly preferred

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide an elevated level of service to our customers from contact through delivery and beyond
  • Build relationships with customers both independently and in collaboration with Sales Consultants who offer our complementary Design program
  • Reinforce customer selections and assist in completing the look of their rooms
  • Efficiently and effectively maintain calendar for storewide use to schedule customer appointments
  • Provide product, service, and design expertise based on your customer’s needs
  • Utilize our company provided laptop and proprietary technology for customer communication
  • Engage with our clients using Havertys customer relationship system and provide professional follow up
  • Assist Team Members in store by providing expert opinion on what the customer’s vision with your knowledge of fabric options, color choices, room sketches and/or 2D Floor plans and 3D room scenes
