Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Operations Management, Manufacturing Engineering or related field required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 8 years of combined formal experience in inventory management, materials management, requirements planning, production control, or supply chain management.

Position Purpose:

Develops and supports material requirements planning, improvement strategies and change management in order to support both program and departmental goals. Effectively manages project assignments deemed essential to support multi-functional teams and lean initiatives within the materials organization. Respond to production schedule changes and inventory level variances resulting from engineering change requests. Communicate design and schedule changes to Materials, Procurement and/Engineering when appropriate. Under general direction, performs the planning activities inventory management functions to insure inventory levels are optimized and inventory obsolescence is minimized.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  • Manages project plans, obsolete inventory and technical issues. Presents status of material change requirement plans clearly and concisely to senior management on a routine basis.

  • Oversight responsibility for planning complex and expensive projects, balancing production requirements, inventory objectives and material acquisition costs. .

  • Recommend and monitor planning policies and parameters to support organization goals. .

  • Ensure a close working relationship with Operations and Engineering departments which integrate and support materials processes.

  • Review, recommend, and implement order policies and recommend strategic and tactical changes to the supply chain as business conditions change. .

  • Coordinate and monitor key project objectives, while at the same time implementing lean initiatives to improve the change management process.

  • Communicate working knowledge of the aircraft component structures and supplier capabilities to other employees.

  • Develop and implement planning tools which project material requirements, identify critical path components, and alert the responsible planner of the need for corrective action.

  • Improve BOM/Requirements Planning by working closely with Purchasing, Engineering, Operations, dispatchers and analysts. Key priorities include: management of standard parts, compressing material and information lead-time, planning accuracy. .

  • Create a responsive, high performance, professional requirements planning organization.

Additional Functions:
  • Involvement in lean projects commensurate with scope of responsibility within the team. .

  • Represent departmental management in cross functional meetings dealing with tactical issues. .

  • Lead projects such as excess inventory risk analysis, Plan for Every Part/Forecasting, System Data Integrity and System upgrades. .

  • Track and report potential financial impact, pursue consumption opportunities and dispose of assets in accordance with company policies. .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
  • Demonstrated product and knowledge of organizational work process relationships.

  • Possess strong decision making skills, effective communication skills, in-depth analytical capabilities and proven team leadership skills.

  • APICS certification preferred.

  • SAP, Smarteam, and Solumina experience preferred.

  • Leadership and inventory management experience in a significant size and scope to demonstrate project management skills and problem solving techniques.

  • Comprehensive understanding of current materials, purchasing and manufacturing principles and their application to supply chain management strategies.
