The IT Analyst will explore new, innovative technologies in order to better empower ARUP to leverage the products that we have licensing for (MS Teams, PowerApps, etc.), as well as find applications for technologies we are exploring e.g. AR, VR, Voice, RPA, etc. Customer Service will be front & center in this role; our customers must know that “we listen, we care, and we deliver”. Empowering “Citizen Developers” to use low-code tools to create their own solutions will be another expectation of this role, in order to provide better customer service. Applicable managers provide the IT analyst with a broad objective that includes capturing relevant data for each department the analyst supports. The IT analyst will employ modeling, information engineering and cost-based accounting to develop a system that satisfies both management and end-users in the most cost-effective and efficient way possible.

Primary Purpose:

The IT Analyst works with managers, supervisors, staff, medical directors and the corporate IT department to evaluate, recommend, and implement automated Information Technology (IT) solutions to meet various operational opportunities/challenges. This position will explore new, innovative technologies in order to better empower ARUP to leverage the products that we have licensing for (MS Teams, PowerApps, etc.), as well as new hardware we are exploring such as: Hololens2, VR, etc. Applicable managers provide the IT analyst with a broad objective that includes capturing relevant data for each department the analyst supports.

The IT Analyst may serve in a primary or adjunct role in software development, implementation, maintenance, and administration, and training of ARUP “Citizen Developers”.

Essential Functions

Performs database and/or report programming within the limitations of ARUP Policies.

Identifies opportunities for laboratory workflow optimization through detailed process observation and analysis for the purpose of evaluating and recommending report or other possible IT solutions.

Coordinates development activities with the corporate IT department to ensure compliance with ARUP and IT technical standards, specifications, and infrastructure.

Develops and documents thorough validations that verify accuracy, reliability, and integrity, including required approvals.

Administers and supports various software.

Generates reports.

Provides training to laboratory staff on the use of IT Analyst developed products, and as needed for ARUP and third-party developed software.

Assists with corporate mandated IT related projects and initiatives as assigned. This may include duties such as system/software support, installation, transition, migration, modification, testing, and validation.

Coordinates project implementation across multiple internal and external departments.

Provides limited computer/hardware troubleshooting and technical support as required.

Manage and apply system updates to laboratory software applications and instrument PCs in supported departments.

Assures complete resolution for in-depth issues beyond the scope of this position by coordinating through the appropriate department or channel.

Works actively toward improving technical proficiency through continuing professional development.

Physical and Other Requirements:

Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.

Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Communicate: Frequently and effectively communicates with others.

PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.

ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.

Color Vision: Perception of and ability to distinguish colors.

Ability to work all required overtime.

May be required to participate in temporary “on-call” rotations during off hours.


Qualifications

Education

Required

High School Diploma or Equivalent or better.

Preferred

Associates Degree or better.

Experience

Required

One (1) year related computer experience

Preferred

One year experience with Crystal Reports, Microsoft Reporting, or related report development
One year in a Clinical Laboratory or related experience
One year computer application related experience, training, testing, troubleshooting, and communications
Associate’s degree related to Information Technology Or Secondary degree or coursework in a laboratory science or related major
