• Maintenance of transgenic and pristine mouse colony that will include setting breeds, weaning, mice tagging and clipping, maintaining and organization of mouse databases and records.
• Mice experiments including administering treatments by oral gavaging, sub-cutaneous and intraperitoneal injections, and DEXA/ Faxitron imaging.
• Assisting with rodent surgeries and post-surgery care. Dissections, fixation, and storing of samples as per the experiment requirements, and maintenance of records.
• DNA preparation for genotyping using PCR and DNA gel electrophoresis
• Preparation of common lab reagents.
• Cryosectioning and histological staining.
• Ordering, receiving, storing lab reagents and supplies, and maintenance of inventories in a timely manner.
• Day to day running of the lab including maintenance of laboratory equipment and reporting when repairs are required, monitor proper use by personnel.
• Maintenance of lab databases.
• Reporting to the Principal Investigator on a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory work and experiments.
• Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment.
• Completion of all trainings related to work in a timely manner, including C14, animal usage, handling hazardous material, laboratory safety.
• Participate in establishing job requirements and goals; perform duties as assigned at the desired level of competency.
