Position Description
Job Title: Line Cook Department: BOH Restaurant
Reports to: Food Manager/Kitchen Supervisor Pay Range: $18-$23 hr DOE
Av Hrs/ Wk: Days varies FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary of Functions: Line Cook will assist in the operation of the Salish Winds kitchen under the direction of the Kitchen Supervisor and Food Manager. Arrive at work on time, in a clean and proper uniform, well-groomed ready to execute exceptional work during shift. Abide by Elwha River Casino and Salish Winds high standard of quality and guest experience. Show ability to execute all plating recipes while meeting all presentation and timing standards. Assists others in the kitchen maintaining a clean, well-stocked work area.
Accountability: Report directly Food Manager and Kitchen Supervisor
MinimumQualifications:
- Must have a valid State License, Washington State Food Handlers card and Gaming License.
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Prior experience as a cook, in a high volume restaurant environment.
- Must pass background check and UA testing prior to employment
- Have the ability to speak effectively to groups of employees, customers and the public
- Working knowledge of health, safety and sanitation procedures.
- Exceptional guest service skills required.
- Skill in identifying and resolving problems under pressure conditions, working in a fast paced environment.
- Work nights, weekends and holidays as required
- Ability to execute precise recipes
- 21yrs of age or older
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Experience in food handling and/or preparation.
- Maintain and strictly abide by state and county sanitation/health regulations. Providing a safe, sanitary and secure work environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Set up the line for the day with product needed for successful shift
- 100% adherence to recipes and proper plating to ensure consistency and food quality
- Manage ticket times, working with all team members to maintain best dining experience for guests
- Complete any opening, ongoing or closing shifts side work
- Cleaning of kitchen and equipment during restaurant hours and after closing hours.
- Be capable of using knives, slicing equipment and other food preparation and industrial equipment.
- Leave notes for prep cook on things needed for the next day and for product needing ordered
- Memorize the menu as to ensure precise execution of recipes

- Exposure to hazardous chemicals, hot and cold environment
- Have ability to bend at waist, back and knees with minimal or no limitations.
- Occasionally able to lift up to 50lbs over waist or shoulder heights.
- Preform actions with constant use of fingers, wrists and hands with minimal or no limitations.
- Able to stand or walk on feet for periods of time up to or exceeding 8hrs.
- Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to tobacco smoke, moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The worker is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
