Position Summary:
Scientists and engineers at Kimberly-Clark work as a member of a Research & Engineering (R&E) team to develop and implement new product, process, material or technology concepts. The scientist for this role will lead material innovation projects ranging from anticipatory development through commercialization activities to support personal care products projects. The area of focus is materials, structures and processes to support personal care products via nonwoven technologies. Candidates should have several years of nonwovens experience developing materials. Experience leading projects or commercializing prototypes is an additional desired skill, but not a requirement. Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to effectively interface with a broad range of team members, global customers, and manufacturing partners. This position reports to a manager and receives direction in the form of specific project objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Support complex projects of considerable significance or a multiplicity of smaller, related projects. Carry out assigned project tasks in a timely, diligent, and professional manner in order to accomplish objectives within prescribed scope, schedule, and cost.
- Lead material and process development efforts on nonwoven materials commonly found in disposable personal care products. Business partners can be any regional team within KC.
- Conceive of creative material or process technology concepts that drive KC’s products towards their Lighthouse Claims.
- Conduct all communications and transactions with the utmost integrity and honesty to build an unimpeachable business reputation.
- Document knowledge and report research and development work as required by R&E policy.
- Maintain knowledge and skill in the business's range of technical and product areas, including competitive benchmarks and next best alternatives.
- Contribute to an environment in which all team members are respected and included regardless of their individual differences. Be motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions to achieve desired business results.
- Visibly demonstrate that safety is a value by following safety procedures, maintaining a safe workplace and complying with safety rules. Develop equipment, processes and products that meet safety codes, policies and guidelines. Actively participate in achieving organization and personal safety objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor's or advanced degree in a related major scientific or engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
- 3 plus years of experience in a research or engineering capacity.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team to complete projects within required timeframes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge and background in commercialization projects in the Nonwovens field including product or technology understanding. A demonstrated ability to translate that knowledge into execution of process or product related initiatives.
- Experience and expertise with Kimberly-Clark products, procedures, and processes.
- Strong customer facing communication skills in technical and business settings.
