Job description

Reporting to department management, a lead person is responsible for assisting the supervisor in the overall operation of the department. Responsibilities include ensuring turkeys meet company and federal specifications and ensuring the proper operation of the department, in or without the presence of the supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Performs job specific tasks as directed by the supervisor

2. Ensures tasks are completed in accordance with established policy, including production, quality, and safety.

3. Work closely with USDA on rules and regulations of product.

4. Coordinate with maintenance personnel to ensure all equipment is functioning properly.

5. Ensure all mid-shift clean-up is completed properly.

6. Work closely with QA on all department testing.

7. Report to supervisor on equipment and supplies.

8. Report employee concerns to the supervisor.

9. Train new employees on safety and department rules.

10. Performs other such duties as may be assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Ability to develop professional working relationship with department personnel

2. Ability to create clear perspective for personnel of what is expected; skilled at achieving those objectives.

3. Ability to lift and properly move at least 50lbs.

4. Ability to exercise good judgment.

5. Ability to ensure employees work safely and provide a safe working environment.

6. Good knowledge of bagging department operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Prior experience working in a manufacturing setting.

2. Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb and reach.

3. Considerable visual physical effort.
