Lowboy Driver
Since 1966, Florence Cement has been a leader in building and repairing public and private roads. Our customers can rely on us to provide a complete roadway or site package including excavation, utility work, concrete, and asphalt paving. Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Drives to sites without deviations or down time
- Maneuver the vehicle to properly load, transport and unload equipment
- Carries and process appropriate paperwork (i.e., weight and material tickets)
- Communicates with personnel at receiving location to determine off-loading or special instructions
- In case of any accident/damage immediately contacts supervisor/submits incident report
- Writes up or communicates repair requests to mechanics
- Maintains cleanliness of vehicle
- Maintains records and logs
- Properly handles breakdowns and accidents
- Provides basic maintenance of vehicle
- Assist the Operator/Labor to ensure safe loading of materials
- Assists with other given tasks as needed
- Operates equipment/hand tools, and power tools
- Cleans and maintains vehicles, tools, and related equipment.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings
- Fills out the daily logbooks and inspection records
Qualification
- Valid license with current CDL-A endorsement
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Clean driving record for past 5 years
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
- Ability to take direction and work together in a team setting
- Must be able to work weekends, overtime, and unexpected longer hours when necessary
- Good work ethic, punctuality, and alertness
- Ability to follow all company, DOT and MIOSHA safety rules
Work Environment/Physical Abilities:
The physical abilities of this position require that an employee is able to frequently stand, climb, stoop, squat, kneel, and bend for extended periods of time. This may also require carrying, pushing/pulling, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing, and talking. Lifting requirements may include up to 50 pounds. Traveling is an essential requirement of this position to jobsites throughout the Detroit metro area. Florence Cement Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
