LPN- Gastroenterology Clinic
Job description
This is a full-time LPN position in the Gastroenterology Clinic (outpatient)
Dayshift, Monday-Friday
Minimum pay is $22/hour

Provides technical nursing care to acute and chronically ill children from the age of birth to 21 years and select adult patients.
Responsibilities:
1. Identifies and documents patient/family data and observations. Reports pertinent findings to RN Care Manager/practitioner responsible for directing the patient’s care.
2. Collaborates with the RN Care Manager directing the patient’s care regarding appropriate tasks/nursing interventions.
3. Implements nursing interventions according to established standards demonstrating competence in specified skills.
4. Administers and documents medications by all routes, i.e. oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intradermal, transdermal, rectal and aerosol, utilizing the five rights and all other related safety recommendations.
5. Demonstrates sound clinical decision making.
6. Communicates and documents patient response to care interventions.
7. Provides input into revision of plan and care based upon data collected and identified patient/family needs.
8. Provides instructions/education and explains procedures to patients/families.
9. Reinforces teaching related to diagnosis and home-going instructions.
10. Assists with examinations and treatments.
11. Assists in emergency situations as directed by the RN Care Managers.
12. Participates in unit based research, quality improvement, and evidence based practice initiatives.
Department Specific:
1. Maintains efficient patient flow in clinic, appropriately managing unexpected changes in schedule and late arriving/incorrectly scheduled patients.
2. Collects and documents all patient information/data correctly in EMR.
3. Collects, prepares, labels and transports specimens according to policy.
4. Manages patient refill request line/faxes.
5. Staffs off-site clinics (Westerville/Dublin) as needed.
KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Must be a graduate of an approved school of practical or vocational nursing.
Must be licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of Ohio.
Must complete an Ohio Board of Nursing approved medication test, such as NAPNES or OAPNES.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
-Must be able to see, hear, stand, walk, speak, read and perform manual tasks with or without accommodation, and care for oneself with little or no difficulty.
-Must be able to independently lift up to 25 lbs.
-Must be able to move or reposition patients of any weight or size with the assistance of another person(s) and/or equipment.
