Position Summary:
FAU Harbor Branch, located in Ft. Pierce, is a research institute focusing on marine science and oceanography. Over 200 scientists, staff and students work and study at the site. The Physical Plant department supports these efforts by maintaining the labs, grounds, offices, and campus infrastructure.
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic - Fort Pierce, FL.
Summary of responsibilities include:
  • Perform pressure washing, painting and furniture assembly.
  • Perform light carpentry, masonry, and landscaping activities.
  • Service and maintain campus building equipment in a safe and reliable condition.
  • Service heating and air conditioning equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and service lighting and plumbing fixtures.
  • Other job-related related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma and four years of appropriate experience required. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Appropriate experience may include carpentry, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, pressure washing, drywall, plumbing, preventive maintenance or general maintenance and repair.

Ability to be on-call as scheduled.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to work outside for periods of time in extreme heat, in covered areas or outside with no protection from the elements.

Must have a valid Florida driver’s license or the ability to obtain within two weeks from date of hire.

Ability to work outside of regular work hours as needed.

Ability to work safely, independently and exercise good judgment and discretion.
Salary:
$17.00 - $19.00 per hour.

Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. This position has an on-call rotation and candidate must be able to work outside of regular hours as needed.
