Position Summary/Objective

Mechanical maintenance technicians are responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery. This is a job for people who excel at working with their hands. Spending most of their day on their feet, mechanical maintenance technicians must have a certain level of strength and mobility to work on commercial machinery. Must have manual dexterity, as a fair bit of their job involves operating hand or power tools. Mechanical maintenance technicians also must be experts in OSHA standards to keep the workplace safe free of incidents. A keen attention to detail and the ability to solve mechanical problems are needed to succeed at this position.

Essential Functions

• Perform predictive, preventative, and repair maintenance on equipment mechanically.
• Create and implement maintenance standard operating procedures based on machine specific knowledge.
• Keep organized the log of all machine maintenance and repairs.
• Troubleshoot faulty machinery and diagnosing the root cause of malfunction using diagnostic tools and problem solving abilities.
• Collaborating with others to solve complex mechanical issues.
• Work with equipment OEM’s to obtain information and help to expedite repairs, upgrades, etc.
• Work with and research parts and equipment vendors to obtain repair and upgrade items at the best price.
• Learn through formal training and OJT to maintain and repair all wire mill equipment.
• Work with Operations and Engineering to achieve common company goals.

Competencies

• Must possess strong mechanical system background including pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Knowledge of rotating equipment, bearings and alignment.
• Ability to read mechanical schematics to assist in equipment repair and installation.
• Basic electrical skills are a must with of PLCs preferred.
• Must be able to troubleshoot and problem solve complex equipment problems
• Must be able to work as part of a team.
• Must be able to utilize a computer for documenting repair and maintenance activities, research, and general communications.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Working on the floor for extended period of time standing.
• Must be able to lift 60 pounds at times.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Minimal travel is expected for this position.

Education and Experience:

Position requires 4 to 6 years Active Duty Military or equivalent experience in a industrial mechanical/electrical, or a 2 year Technical degree + 3 years related experience.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
