DUTIES
:


The purpose of this position is to maintain all equipment and facilities in optimum operating condition, and to repair or replace any inoperative equipment. The employee will perform maintenance and minor repair tasks in a variety of crafts and trades, i.e., plumbing, carpentry, painting, and repairs. Such assignments may include but not limited to:


Plumbing assignments may typically consist of minor repairs such as replacing faucets or shower heads, repairing toilet flushing devices, and cleaning stopped-up drains.


Carpentry assignments may typically consist of construction or repairing wooden shelves, bins, concert forms, windows, doors, and counter-working areas. Employee will measure, cut, plane, and sand wood materials according to the maintenance project requirements and specifications.


Painting assignment may typically consist of interior and exterior painting by using brushes and rollers. Employee will prepare the surface to be painted, mix the paint to obtain the desired color and ensure the finished product is the color specified in the work order request.


Employee may also perform a variety of other maintenance duties which may include but is not limited or replacing burned out bulbs, repairing broken or inoperative doors locks, and repairing broken tools and equipment. Perform cable and internet hookups and disconnect in barrack and base housing. Troubleshoot and make repairs to cable and internet service. Maintain inventory and supplies on hand including modems, taps, connectors, cable, bandpass filters, etc., as well as maintain electronic and climate control equipment in the cable head shed.

HVAC assistance to include trouble shooting, replacing filters, adding Freon and general cleaning of HVAC units. Electrical to include assistance with light switches, outlets and trouble shooting


Performs semi-annual safety inspections of all MWR facilities and equipment, to include all CDC operated playground equipment, toys, watercraft, RV’s, cargo trailers and lifting equipment. Performs daily turnover of Tracen 6 guest quarters units to include linen services and housekeeping.


Qualified to operate heavy equipment to prepare athletic fields for safe play (placement of topsoil, overseeding, mowing and marking of fields for flag football, softball etc.).


Leads recruits, Active duty, and limited duty personnel, as assigned, in the execution of tasks associated with labor of opportunity work force. Responsible for the creation of a daily work schedule for those members assisting and ensures the safety of those conducting the work by ensuring the members have the proper training and PPE to conduct the work.


Conducts oversight on all projects being conducted by commercial contractors on the Tracen to include paving and maintenance of long-term storage areas and parking lots. Manages the commercial cleaning company that professionally cleans the guest quarters, public restrooms, and pavilion. Assist the MWR Director with the management of all commercial contracts.


Performs small engine repairs, maintenance and the winterization of all utilities and rental equipment to include campers, trailers, heavy equipment, and outdoor recreation areas. Removes, cleans, and stores all outside dining furniture and accessories.

Assists in the operation of the Lucky Bag retail clothing locker where responsible for maintaining inventory and the sale of retail items.


Assists with the procurement, set up, execution and cleanup of all MWR events to include, sporting events, holiday parties, dances, Community festivals, CG Day, annual fall fest and other associated events.

Performs other related duties as assigned by the MWR Director.


Employee works under direct supervision. Works assignments are received either orally or through work order requests. Completed work is spot-checked by the supervisor for compliance with building codes and regulations

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
:

Minimum:

  • Employee must possess a sound knowledge in the field of plumbing, carpentry, painting, and maintenance. Must be thoroughly familiar with the safe use of hand tools and portable power tools used in these trades. Employees experience will include as a minimum two years of maintenance or construction work.
  • Qualified to operate heavy equipment


  • WORKING CONDITIONS. Employees will work both indoors and outdoors and will be exposed to paint vapors and fumes, cuts, bruises, burns, and falls. May come in contact with materials that are injurious to the eye or skin. May include light to moderate physical effort and climbing, bending, lifting, and working in awkward positions. Knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations concerning procedures, tools, mechanical and electrified equipment, commonly used chemicals, and basic safe work practices is required. Requires prolonged standing; stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts, carries, and sets up materials and equipment.
