Ensures programs meet team members’ needs, comply with legal requirements, and are cost effective. The Benefits Manager manages a team in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.
Atlantic Health System is seeking a full-time, Manager, Benefits within the Total Rewards & Shared Services Department located in Morristown NJ.

Ensures programs meet team members’ needs, comply with legal requirements, and are cost effective. The Benefits Manager manages a team in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.
- Assist in developing, designing, and managing benefits programs including health and welfare, retirement, and voluntary benefits.
- Participates in benefits design process, including overseeing the annual benefits renewal by recommending benefit changes, forecasting budget implications and project leading the open enrollment process end to end.
- Lead the projects and teams; obtain key partner buy in, develop requirements, build/test, prepare for change management, go live and conduct post-mortem feedback for process improvement.
- Manage benefits strategy including participation in the selection and evaluation of vendors, review of benchmark data and communication of changes to employees.
- Recommends benefits programs to management by studying employee requirements and trends and developments in benefits offered by other organizations.
- Maintains benefits staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Maintains benefits staff job results by coaching and counseling employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Track benefit cost expenditures for compliance with budget; provides necessary reporting.
- Act as Benefits subject matter expert on questions and issues from both management and employees.
- Oversee preparation and filing of periodic regulatory reports such as Forms 1095-C and 5500, all annual benefits and retirement plan testing, and compliance and any other filings required by ACA, COBRA, ERISA and other applicable laws related benefit plans
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Education
- Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience
Certifications
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred
- CEBS certification preferred
Relevant Experience
- Knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee benefits especially retirement and health plan
- 6+ years’ experience administering health & welfare plans, as well as retirement programs such as 403(b), 457
- 3-5 years supervisory experience
- Strong analytical skills; experience with reporting and data analysis is required
- Strong program and vendor performance management, cost benefit analysis and budget management experience.
