Overview:
The Manager of Corporate Development is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and executing strategic transactions in collaboration with senior business leaders. The Manager of Corporate Development will be a critical member of the Strategy Department and will focus on organic & inorganic business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and other strategic investments. Responsibilities include strategy implementation, deal sourcing, negotiation and execution of complex transactions and strategic growth initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Manages M&A and investment transactions from pre-transaction strategy phase through post-closing integration/separation.
- Partners with operating executives to create, source and maintain a pipeline of inorganic growth opportunities.
- Leads engagement and discussions with potential M&A targets and strategic partners.
- Manages comprehensive understanding of a target’s market position, business operations, risks, and financial profile.
- Provides insights on key deal issues—including quantifying key opportunities, risks and potential synergies.
- Oversees and manages investment bank and other third-party relationships.
- Develops market intelligence and performs on-going analysis of competitive landscape.
- Performs financial modeling and valuation of strategic alternatives and engages in balanced risk assessment.
- Coordinates global and cross-functional M&A activities.
- Oversees integration and separation activities.
- Simplifies complex information and financial analysis into easy to understand and digestible form necessary to make smart and informed business decisions.
- Regularly updates key stakeholders on M&A activities, including senior leadership
- Represent Firestone at management presentations, introductory meetings with target executives and investment bankers.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field.
- 4 to 6 years of related M&A experience, with at least 3-4 years of experience in a corporate M&A and/or private equity setting. Experience in investment banking, transaction advisory services, consulting, and strategic corporate roles are all highly valued.
- Experience supporting senior leadership as they navigate through the entire life cycle of an M&A transaction.
- Successful record of leading, negotiating and executing strategic M&A transactions from start to finish, including ideation, pipeline development, diligence, financial modeling, negotiation, documentation, closing, integration, and post-closing items.
- Able to lead complex transactions independently.
- Demonstrated ability to build meaningful relationships, collaborate with cross-functional groups, communicate with senior leadership, and foster a team-oriented environment.
- Superior financial and analytical skills, including strong valuation capabilities.
- Ability to work in a results-oriented, project-driven, real-time team environment, prioritize projects and deliver quality results within tight time constraints.
- Proven ability to develop strategic plans that meet business objectives.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Demonstrate poise, professionalism, integrity and business savvy in representing Firestone to external partners and M&A targets.
- Experience and comfort in initiating and cultivating relationship with external parties.
- Ability to navigate and collaborate up and down, and peer to peer throughout the organization.
- Highly motivated; proactive and action‐oriented; strong sense of pace, bias for action and urgency.
