Job description
The manager of projects will plan, execute, and finalize key projects to include grant management and public health emergency preparedness. Provides leadership in the day-to-day operations of the public health department and may supervise public health staff to assure the successful achievement of UnityPoint Health’s vision, mission and program objectives including a focus on enhancement of health and the prevention of disease. The public health manager implements and evaluates programs; establishes and maintains community partnerships; manages multiple projects, timelines, and work plans; makes policy recommendations and supports a culture of quality improvement.

- Responsible for coordinating the efforts of team members and external partners in order to complete grant applications, projects, for the public health department.
- Coordinates public health activities with other public health professionals and organizations and jurisdictions, including, but not limited to, the Iowa Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
- Collaborates in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, projects and programs for public health in Muscatine County and surrounding communities.
- Collaborates in and contributes to individual, team, and health department performance management, quality improvement, evaluation activities, program goals and objectives, and organizational strategic planning.
- Using public health informatics, develops options, examines feasibility, recommends and implements policies, programs, projects and services in areas of public health, prevention, preparedness, and health promotion.
- Assures compliance with the requirements of state and federal regulations and appropriate certification/credentialing through policy and procedure development, staff education, and ongoing monitoring activities.
- Assures compliance and completion of all grant funded contract obligations including submission of required reports and documents through effective project management techniques.
- Seeks grant opportunities to meet the needs of population health and prepares proposals for funding and other agreements for programs and services.

Education:
Degree in public health, nursing, social work, business or related field
Master degree in public health, nursing, social work, business or related field.
Experience:
Two years project management experience.
Three years of health programming experience and/or managerial capacity.
License(s)/Certification(s):
Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
