Overview:
Responsibilities:
Act as the community liaison to promote the NTC within the Queens community. Manage all external event leads and maintain relationships with schools that host commencement onsite. Responsible for the management/oversight of the US Open Guest Services Program as well as ancillary event services.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business / Marketing Communications or experience in related field.- 5+ years of experience working in Events
- Proficient computer skills required including Google Office and MS Office software.
- Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and MS PowerPoint.
- 5+ years marketing experience in the events/sports industry a plus
- 3+ years working with lobbyists/governmental employees a plus
- Experience and savvy in use of Internet for extensive research
Salary Range: $82,808 - 101,209.66
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
Responsibilities:
- Works closely with USTA senior staff and lobbyists to determine priority on all community action items.
- Foster efforts to promote NTC’s involvement within the local Queens community and oversee relationships with community stakeholders including, but not limited to the following:
- Queens Chamber of Commerce
- Queens Tourism Council
- NYC Parks Department
- Queens Economic Development Corporation
- Community Boards 3, 4, 6, 7, 8
- Flushing Business Improvement District
- 82nd Street Business Improvement District
- Flushing Meadows Corona Park Cultural Institutions
- All other Queens related governmental offices
- Hold position on the board of an appropriate Queens Organization as defined by Sr. Director, Event Services
- Develop and maintain a yearly calendar/roadmap of community events/initiatives.
- Develop and execute annual Queens Day Event during US Open Qualifying Week.
- Collaborate with all USTA departments for all Queens related events.
- Work with Sr. Manager, NTC HR to expand & endorse local efforts of for the US Open Job Fair for Queens’ residents. Enhance current program to target hiring of Queen’s residents.
- Collaborate with NTC Tennis Programs staff to create events targeted at attracting the involvement of Queens residents
- Establish year round relationships with schools and commencement promoters hosting graduations.
- Research and manage initiatives to promote year-round event services and showcase all NTC banquet, meeting, and conference spaces. Work to establish the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center as a premiere state of the art multi-purpose events venue.
- Create and maintain a marketing database for events which include various platforms (of little to no-fee) where NTC promotional material may be presented via slide shows, page spreads, and show case advertisement expos (i.e. Biz Bash, NY Production Guide, etc.)
- Responsible for the administration for all inbound NTC inquiries/leads inclusive of stadium rental, special events, and filming/photography.
- Pursue client leads, conduct tours, prepare expenses – in conjunction with Manager, Event Operations & Sr. Manager, Premium Seating & Experiences, Sr. Coordinator, Event Services.
- Produce and archive US Open/special event photos for record and reference. Organize files in shared folders to be easily referenced when working with potential clients for event bookings.
- Attend and oversee events to ensure client’s requests are fully executed.
- Follow up with client for feedback and ensure timely response/action to receipt of invoice.
- Work closely with USTA Marketing Department to develop, produce and disseminate all NTC and US Open related collateral i.e. Team Member Guide, Tournament guide, Guest Maps, Restaurant Information, Parking Passes, and Restaurant collateral.
- Responsible for managing the US Open Guest Services Department:
- Supervise and manage the Sr. Coordinator, Event Services
- Work with the Sr. Coordinator, Event services to perform quality control audits, real time complaint resolution, managing seasonal staff members, and coordinating schedules.
- Collaborate with Sr. Manager HR & Sr. Coordinator, Guest Services to develop training curriculum for seasonal staff
- US Open Transportation - Work with selected vendor to ensure that all US Open needs are successfully executed, including player transportation, hotel shuttles and parking lot shuttles.
- Act as NTC team lead working alongside Sr. Director, Pro Tennis IT for Transportation Digital initiatives, (inclusive of player car app, media shuttle booking & other future enhancements)
- Manage After Action Process/Team to capture staff/guest feedback and implement improvements for all aspects of the US Open.
- Assist NTC Administration planning committees as needed for coordination of on/off site staff activities to boost morale and improve team/department cohesiveness.
