ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Handles all incoming and outgoing materials for the shoes, wares, books, electrical-mechanical, auction, and new goods departments.
Delivers merchandise to Auction.
Transfers prepared store shipments from the sorting areas to the designated holding area.
Ensures adequate quantity of carts and boxes are available to each department to prevent a slowdown in production.
Uses pallet jack to maneuver storage boxes into position for sorting, storage, or Auction.
Alerts supervisor of equipment and supply needs.
Moves material from Auction to trash compactor.
Responsible for keeping North Dock clean.
Assist in removing all auction items from Wares departments and places in appropriate areas.
Helps with the cleanup and setup of Auction.
Must wear company approved protective equipment while handling materials.
Will fill in, as directed by supervisor, as a Material Handler – Shipping, Material Handler – Textiles, and Material Handler - Dock to ensure production goals are met.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Cleans work area by sweeping and removing all trash.
Returns out-of-department material to 2800.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
On-the-job training is over a period up to and including three (3) months.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Climbing, balancing, talking, hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, seeing and depth perception. Lifting/Carrying: Heavy Work: Lifting 50 lbs. maximum, one-man lift, and 100 lbs. maximum, two-man lift, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Pushing/Pulling: Very Heavy Work pushing laundry carts 100lb or more on with frequency.
