Material Planner Assistant
The Material Planner is responsible for ensuring coordination and release of components required to meet production schedules and customer requirements while developing procedures and systems to optimize, ensure availability and achieve appropriate inventory levels.
Duties and Responsibilities
Confer with appropriate personnel on problems or situations that develop regarding, efficiency, scheduling, machine utilization, safety, housekeeping, manpower, etc.
• Maintain acceptable customer delivery standards
• Work with supervision to analyze and resolve work-related problems pertinent to the schedule
• Support current Material Planners where needed
Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business related area, Industrial Management, or related field is preferred but not required; will consider relevant experience.
• 1 to 2 years related work experience in a role in Warehousing, Receiving, Inventory Control, Purchasing/Planning, or Materials Management in the automotive manufacturing environment preferred
Requirements
• Knowledge of MRP, inventory control, purchasing procedures and internal controls.
• Ability to represent the company effectively in dealing with suppliers
• Ability to understand and analyze the requirements of the material requirements plan. Ability to convert these requirements into purchase orders to support manufacturing.
• Ability to conduct purchasing-related tasks via the telephone, e-mail, Internet, and in person.
• The positions require a neat and professional appearance, good communication skills (both oral and written), and good negotiating skills.
• Solid decision-making skills
• Excellent computer skills (Windows Office).
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations under stress.
• Engage in matters involving high-pressure situations while maintaining professionalism and tact.
• Ability to create, track and meet schedules at a multi-task level along with project management skills
• Proven analytical/technical aptitude
• Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
• Teamwork/collaborative style
• Ability to take initiative, to maintain confidentiality, to meet deadlines.
• Experience with Automotive JIT systems, FIFO, and pull systems preferred
• Work overtime as required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 per hour
