Payrate – Starting at $40 per hour.
Position Summary
  • The MDS RN is responsible for the timely and accurate completion of the Resident Assessment Instrument process per state and federal regulations.
  • Ongoing education of those preparing the MDS.

Qualifications:
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a Registered Nursing degree in the State of Michigan. Minimum of one year of MDS experience.
  • Critical thinking skills, sound judgement and decision making skills, strong organizational and follow-up skills; attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • I.MDS Preparation and Process

  • Schedules completion of MDS Assessments per RAI following State and Federal guidelines.
  • Notifies Interdisciplinary Team members with distribution of schedules showing dates of assessment schedules.
  • Assists in completion of MDS Assessments as needed.
  • Supervises the completion of the MDS by the Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Modification to assessment schedule to ensure appropriate PDPM score for each individual resident.
  • Screens each Minimum Data Set (MDS) for accuracy before finalizing, locking, and signing.
  • Transmits MDS data to the state weekly or as needed.
  • Tracks Validation Reports, Monthly and Quarterly Reports from the state.
  • Medicare Review and Coverage
  • Active interaction with the Interdisciplinary Team in daily conference to evaluate each resident’s status and needs relative to Medicare skilled coverage and potential for PDPM category changes.
  • Assist Interdisciplinary staff with Medicare review via chart audit in order to ensure that change of condition RAIs are initiated when appropriate and documentation reflects the need for the care and services the resident receives.
  • Participation in Interdisciplinary meetings for Medicare coverage and determination to discontinue when resident no longer meets criteria.
  • III. Other Duties
  • Coordination for timely completion of Medicare Certification/Re-Certification forms.
  • Assist with the completion and maintenance of the Resident Roster and the Census and Condition Reports.
  • Coordinates with the billing department to complete the billing cycle in a timely manner.
  • Acts as a liaison to the Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Performs other duties incidental to the position and as delegated by the Director of Nursing.
