Position Title: Medical Assistant
Primary Service Center: Springfield, Ohio (South Limestone Location)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Work Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, some evening may be required
Position Summary and Responsibilities: Full-time position performing routine administrative and patient care supportive duties to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients to ensure that the office runs smoothly and efficiently, and that patients receive comprehensive coordinated care in their medical home.
  • Answer telephones.
  • Update and file patient medical records and other documentation.
  • Fill out medical forms, insurance forms, and handle some correspondence.
  • Complete prior-authorizations necessary for insurance carriers.
  • Prepare documents for laboratory services and requisitions.
  • Data Entry.
  • Perform other administrative duties as directed.
  • Greet patients in a friendly and welcoming manner.
  • Promote patient/family understanding of the educational content and his/her involvement in the plan of care, and document in patient record.
  • Prepare patients for examination.
  • Obtain patient’s medical history and record vital signs.
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients.
  • Assists provider during examination and procedures as requested.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens including blood draws, venipuncture.
  • Performs basic in-office laboratory tests and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Sterilize medical instruments.
  • Prepare and administer immunizations and medications as directed by a physician, including by injection.
  • Telephone prescriptions to pharmacy, authorize drug refills as directed by the physician.
  • Perform other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Certification of satisfactory competition of Medical Assisting program required.
  • Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants or other certifying organization preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and patients
