Job description
The Certified Medical Assistant is under the direct leadership of the director or designee. The CMA performs a wide variety of patient care services such as Therapeutic and/or diagnostic services.
Essential Job Functions
- Knows and practices UCM Ingalls Memorial Hospital Pride Values and Patient Centered Care Definition and Principles
- Performs any and all duties involving direct patient care as designated by RN or provider within the scope of practice of Nursing policies and procedures for occupational health services including pre-employment screening, medical surveillance, health screening and vaccination, exposure evaluations, fitness for duty and treatment and care to IMH employees and volunteers
- Appropriately documents and implements patient and family care as designated by RN or provider according to hospital policies and procedures.
- Administration of medication as ordered by physician
- Leaves exam rooms and work areas cleaned, and well stocked – orders supplies and medications as inventory levels indicate are necessary.
- Utilizes computers to obtain necessary information, schedule appointments and provide documentation.
- Assists with data collection - Assists in coordinating and managing work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses including workers’ compensation, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), accommodations and short-term/long-term disability
- Assist department managers to identify, evaluate, and implement accommodations and return to work options for workers with restricted duty

Participates in staff meeting and departmental meetings and projects as required.

Assists with orientation of new staff

Assists with collection of data for studies or projects as required

Cleans instruments and adheres to principles of infection control and PPE. Incorporates cost-effective measures into practice to assure appropriate use of time, supplies, and personnel.

Ensures patient care areas and practice always within regulatory compliance – DNV, OSHA, etc.

Appropriately collects and labels all specimens – is current with Drug testing certification

Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

High School Graduate
-
Graduation from a certified program for Medical Assistance – obtain CMA or RNA credential.

Current Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation training/certification,
-
Minimum of 1-3 years of full time direct clinical practice in Occupational Medicine clinic of ED/UA is desired.

Minimum of 1 year of full time experience in direct clinical care in outpatient or acute care setting is essential.

Lead experience is desired.

Experience in front facing and registration practice is also desired. Work experience in fast paced environment is highly desirable. Able to work independently and collaboratively with providers and leadership team is essential.

Occupational Health regulatory issues – Drug and Alcohol – DOT FMCSA 401.9, vision testing, assisting with basic first aid, medication administration & immunizations/injections, and front line triage and injury care. Registration experience is also desirable.
- CMA or RMA with current certification in good standing
- CPR Card
- Urine drug testing certification if already completed – otherwise must complete successful training course and certification within probationary period 6 months

Must comply with Ingalls Memorial Hospital's COVID-19 Vaccination requirement as a condition of employment.
