ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital is a full-service, 117-bed acute care facility where residents of Tarboro and the surrounding communities can receive a wide range of health services close to home. As part of the ECU Health system of care, the hospital offers high quality care provided by more than 20 medical specialists, rehabilitation services, a birthing center, a cancer center, outpatient clinics and more.
Position Summary
As an Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), you will perform clinical laboratory tests by standard operating policies and procedures. Understands method principles, performs quality control & calibrations, performs preventive maintenance, and analyzes results as to accuracy, acceptability and critical limits.
Minimum Requirements
- Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
- For New Graduates: OR currently enrolled in an accredited Clinical Laboratory Science Program (BS) and have completed the specific laboratory rotation (e.g. Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Transfusion Services)
- Equivalent laboratory training and/or work experience with the US military (2 years) will meet the education requirement
Career Ladder
Level I:
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or other nationally recognized certifying agency preferred
Level II:
- 1-2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Technician
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or other nationally recognized certifying agency preferred
Level III:
- 4 years of experience in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Technician
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or other nationally recognized certifying agency required
Level IV:
- 7 years of experience in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Technician
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or other nationally recognized certifying agency required
Other Information
- 36 hours a week
- Weekends (Nights)
- Friday - Sunday (7 pm - 7 am)
