Work Location: Virtual telecommuting position in the USA. Although we are 100% virtual, you must be located in one of our hiring states of AL, AZ, CO, FL, GA, IA, IL, MD, MI, MN, NC, ND, TX, VA, WA, or WI. Must have high speed internet connection.

NOTE: this is NOT a medical billing, Radiology, coding position, or user of terminologies but terminology standards development work at the expert level.
The Medical Terminology Analyst Subject Matter Expert (SME) must be highly knowledgeable in Healthcare IT standardized reference clinical terminologies such as SNOMED CT and LOINC. Expert knowledge in SNOMED CT new term submission and mapping is required. Some detailed clinical modeling of terminology experience is required.
They also must be able to map/match medical terms to relevant SNOMED CT concepts and terms in this reference standard. Previous Federal work and knowledge of VistA are also needed. They will work with the client to advise them on standard operating procedures and quality assurance processes. May analyze and evaluate work associated with program activities and development. The Medical Terminologist Analyst SME may conduct, analyze, evaluate, and advise on project/healthcare-related areas, including terminology standards, health information architecture, clinical workflow, clinical efficiencies, business requirements identification and impact, care quality, and patient safety. They may be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing projects that examine both business processes and technical issues. The Medical Terminology Analyst SME must accomplish work through a range of project duties, such as developing project plans and procedures, coordinating with stakeholders, and integrating the project team.
We are looking for someone with a mix of leadership and technical skills for multiple projects with a small scope. The Medical Terminology Analyst SME must create documentation to support the mapping effort. They may present management briefings, reports, and plans to Senior Executives and stakeholder groups including both government and private entities within the healthcare industry. They may conduct analyses and evaluations on a quantitative/qualitative basis and the effectiveness of health standards, information architecture programs, and operations. The Medical Terminology Analyst SME must provide technical expertise to persuasively articulate stakeholder positions on controversial issues in a variety of forums. They must serve as a primary technical authority with respect to regulatory impact on sensitive or rapidly evolving programs. The Medical Terminology Analyst SME must identify key policy issues and priorities, design analyses, evaluate alternative strategies, and make definitive recommendations to senior leadership. Lastly, they must analyze the economic impact, feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of existing and/or proposed federal standards, regulations, programs, and policies.
