Title: Mental Health Outreach Coordinator

Duration: 8 + months
Position requires 37.5Hours per week.
This is a contract position with no benefits
· The purpose of this position is to increase mental health literacy among state partners and to develop a well-coordinated mental health care program for Indiana to address mental health needs amongst ORR-eligible populations.
· This position will be located in the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) Epidemiology Resource Center’s Refugee & International Health program and will report to the Refugee & international Health Coordinator.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
· Identify & conduct outreach to mainstream mental health providers versed in trauma-informed services to determine potential partners for helping refugee & immigrant population
· Develop a refugee mental health training curriculum for mainstream providers
· Increase the pool of Mental Health First Aid (MFHA) instructors in the resettlement network
· Conduct awareness and education for the refugee & immigrant population on mental health & emotional wellness
· Work with the refugee & immigrant population to decrease stigma about mental health and encourage them to seek, and to use available mental support services in the community
· Develop direct linkages between mental health service providers and refugee & immigrant services providers to ensure a well-coordinated referral process
· Develop and implement strategies to mitigate language barriers to mental health services for the refugee & immigrant populations
· Identify community-based mental health support activities, such as wellness group, Meditation groups, Women's sewing group, etc. and connect them with refugee & immigrant population
· Work with resettlement agencies to development menthal health promotion activities for the refugee & immigrant population
· Attend community-based activities, meetings, and coalitions to advocate for mental health support and services for refugee & immigrant population
Required Skills:
· Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and greater than 3 years of relevant Public Health Exp.
· Knowledge of mental health dimensions, causes and best practice mental health education
· Knowledge of state, federal laws, regulations & guidance documents pertaining to mental health
· Skill in identification of mental health problems pertinent to the refugee population
· Skill in communication, interpersonal relationship, cultural competency
· Strong critical and analytical thinking skills
· Ability to work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision
· Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
· Master's Degree in relevant field and greater than 2 years relevant public health exp.
· Graduate or professional degree in health-related field, i.e. RN, MD/DO, DDS/DMD, DVM, PhD, RS)

Pay: $30.70 per hour
