The Manager of Performance Improvement and Staff Education is a full time position, in office, and will coordinate all clinical orientation and educational programming, oversee all Coding, OASIS, HIS and outcomes initiatives, in collaboration with agency leadership, clinical operations, and the education team.
Education required for Manager of Performance Improvement and Staff Education :
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or Therapy Program
- Masters or higher (DPT, DNP, PhD) degree in Nursing or Therapy preferred
- Current MA professional license in good standing
- OASIS Certification preferred
Experience required for Manager of Performance Improvement and Staff Education :
- 5+ years of Nursing or Therapy experience with at least 3 years in community health
- Two (2) + years of teaching experience
- Experience as a clinical preceptor or educator, preferred
- Management or supervisory experience, preferred
- Working knowledge of Value based purchasing, QAPI and Payor models, preferred
Skills/Abilities :
- Strong clinical skills
- Excellent observation and communication skills, both verbal, written and presentation
- Strong computer skills necessary and experience in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- Able to work under pressure
- Able to problem-solve and troubleshoot quickly and effectively
- Strong organizational, decision-making, and time management skills
- Able to be flexible, adaptable and dependable.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Works in collaboration with the Agency clinical, human resources and education teams to design, implement and provide clinical orientation and on-going training to professional and support staff consistent with evidence-based care and regulatory requirements.
- Supports agency strategic initiatives and develops, implements and maintains the QAPI program of the agency.
- Responsible for the accurate review and successful transmission of OASIS and HIS and any other required data to CMS and other insurers.
- Coordinates the development, implementation, evaluation and redesign of any OASIS and outcomes based training program that is competency based, quality outcome focused, and in compliance with all rules and regulations.
- Responsible for joint visit initiatives, clinical competency, assessing OASIS, customer service, and rating reliability with the education and clinical teams.
- Oversees the Agency Clinical Competency Program.
- Oversees the Agency Student Program.
- Tracks participation in orientation, competency and ongoing educational programs.
- Works in collaboration with the IT, PI and clinical team to design, implement and provide electronic health record documentation training to clinical professional and support staff.
- Oversees and evaluates the ongoing effectiveness of the online learning systems.
- Oversees the development of patient education tools and patient handbooks to ensure consistency with evidence-based care and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborates with clinical managers and agency leadership on the development of clinical/critical pathways or guidelines.
- Consistently provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers and promotes the mission, vision and values of NVNA and Hospice.
- Maintains software Super User status.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Ensures agency compliance with all federal and state laws as well as adhering to the Norwell Visiting Nurse Association, Inc. Corporate Compliance policy in the prevention of fraud and abuse on behalf of the agency.
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
