Summary & Responsibilities: Compass Minerals is currently seeking a Mobile Equipment Mechanic to repair and maintain its fleet of heavy diesel and stationary equipment. Some of our fleet includes Caterpillar 980H, 980K and 980M loaders, D6T and D9T dozers, 16G, 16H and 16M motor graders.

Key Activities: Troubleshooting, diagnosing, modifying, fabricating and repairing mobile and stationary equipment electrical systems, hydraulic systems, diesel engines, drive trains and track equipment undercarriages by using specialized testing equipment and electrical systems knowledge.

Responsible for all tasks related to preventative maintenance program such as repairing fluid leaks, performing lube work, taking fluid samples, inspecting components and parts for proper operation, damage or wear, etc. Repair and replace components and parts as needed.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in heavy industrial equipment repair and maintenance preferably with Caterpillar software/diagnostic tools. Minimum two years’ experience in advanced maintenance preferred.
• Working knowledge of manuals, schematics and diagnostic tools.
• Have a thorough understanding of A/C and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair, also an understanding of SIS and ET systems.
• Possess good understanding of electrical, fuel and cooling systems, and be able to troubleshoot and repair them.
• Must possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, with an ability to motivate and work in a team environment.
• Must be able to work a 12-hour rotating shift.
• Must possess required hand tools to perform all necessary maintenance and repairs of equipment.

Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalency is required. This individual must have two (2) years applicable experience
