Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general supervision of the Unit/Department Director or designee, the Manager is responsible for the efficient, effective running of the assigned units. This includes, but is not limited to management of the budget, provision of patient care services, performance improvement, compliance with regulatory standards, and business development. In collaboration with other members of the management team, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in department.

  • Effectively allocates financial, physical and human resources to ensure that operations are effective and efficient.
  • Implements effective cost containment strategies.
  • Advances organizational mission.
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge base to the patient population served in the unit/department, including the operation of equipment, and policy and procedures used in the delivery of patient care.
  • Maintains communication with other members of the management team regarding potential/actual problems or concerns, and with Medical Staff issues.
  • Assists with establishing and maintaining communication channels with Medical Staff and other departments in the Hospital.
  • Operates across organizational boundaries and recognizes implications of actions and plans.
  • Ensures Department/Unit provides positive customer service.
  • Identifies critical changes required to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Establishes clear Operational Unit goals and hold staff accountable for their responsibilities and performance.
  • Complies with professional regulations.
  • Makes timely, effective decisions.
  • Delegates responsibility effectively.
  • Motivates staff to be effective team members..
  • Fosters development of Department/Unit employees to enhance their ability to contribute to meet business goals.

  • Develops effective quality processes to improve quality of the department and hospital.
  • Facilitates staff education regarding current quality initiatives.
  • Communicates directly with the director/manager on unit and staff performance issues needing attention.
  • Maintains effective utilization and maintenance of manpower, equipment, and supplies.
  • Participates in cost containment programs as applicable to services provided.
  • Actively participates in appropriate Department and Hospital committees and ensures that unit personnel are involved in this process as appropriate.
  • Maintains own professional growth through appropriate organizations, workshops, seminars, and other educational endeavors.
  • Maintains awareness of current developments and trends in area of expertise.

What qualifications you will need:

Education/Skills

  • Associate’s degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Bachelors will be required within 3 years of employment.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years RN experience in an emergency room setting.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a healthcare setting..

Licenses, Registrations and/or Certifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Registered Nurse License eligible to practice in the State of Texas required.
  • Current BLS required at hire and ACLS within 90 days, both obtained from an approved HCA vendor required, ENPC required within 6 months of hire.
  • TNCC required within 6 months of hire. CEN, CPEN, or TCRN preferred.

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
