Nurse practitioners (NP) or physician assistants (PA) for addiction research and treatment program

Maryland Treatment Centers / Mountain Manor is seeking a full time or several part time NPs or PAs to join our team. Primary duties include providing clinical services within research projects studying medication treatment of Opioid Use Disorder and Cocaine Use Disorder. This position is based in Baltimore, Maryland, but would also include regular travel across several locations (all within Maryland).


The primary research projects are cutting-edge randomized clinical trials for opioid use disorder and cocaine use disorder:

  • An open-label trial testing the effectiveness of two forms of long-acting injectable medications and one form of daily sublingual medication for opioid use disorder. Eligible participants are inmates in county jails from select counties across Maryland with opioid use disorder. Participants will be inducted onto the medications while in jail, followed by continuation in community clinics for 6-months after release. Clinical services would include patient evaluation, prescribing, medication administration, phlebotomy, and assisting with care coordination throughout the participant’s time in the study.
  • A double blinded randomized trial testing the efficacy of a combination of two injectable mediations vs. double placebo for cocaine use disorder. Eligible participants are individuals with cocaine use disorder recruited from the community in the greater Baltimore area and receive either the active medicines or placebo for 8 weeks. Clinical services would include patient evaluation, prescribing, phlebotomy, medical management visits, and assisting with care coordination throughout the participant’s time in the study.


Position

  • Participate as a member of the research team for study of OUD medications in criminal justice populations
  • Evaluate patients, prescribe medications
  • Administer injectable medications for OUD


Requirements

  • MD licensure
  • Have or obtain “x-waiver” to prescribe buprenorphine
  • Be comfortable with criminal justice populations and in criminal justice settings
  • Willing to drive to various study locations
  • Some schedule flexibility preferred
