Binghamton University's Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences, located at the newly renovated, state-of-the art health sciences campus in Johnson City, New York, is hiring for its Adult Gerontology Graduate Nursing program and invites applicants for a full-time, interdisciplinary, campus-based, 12-month faculty appointment. The position encompasses teaching, service, innovation, and scholarship.

This position requires the candidate to be doctorally prepared in the field of Gerontology (may be evidenced by a research trajectory in gerontology and/or a degree in gerontology or closely associated field). The candidate must participate in professional activities that promote the specialization of gerontology on a local, regional, state and national levels. A minimum of two years of recent full-time or four years of part-time experience in the field of geriatrics is required. This position requires graduate level teaching, as well as other academic responsibilities. These activities include didactic and clinical teaching (if applicable), lecture development and delivery, course development, revision and evaluation, collaboration in the development of clinical simulation activities, and academic advising. Service within the university will include faculty meetings, committee membership and related responsibilities, professional activities, and other duties as assigned. During the fall and spring semesters, one day a week release time is provided to develop and maintain scholarship activities in adult gerontology research.

Job Requirements:


Qualifications:

  • Earned research doctorate in health sciences, nursing, or a closely related discipline from an accredited university
  • Eligibility for appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Professor (tenure-tenure track or tenured options).
  • Track record of scholarly activity in gerontology, including peer-reviewed publications and presentations
  • Eligible for RN licensure in New York State, applicable to candidates prepared as a nurse.
