Summary:
Responsible for scheduling surgeries by collecting necessary information from providers and staff and coordinating resources to mitigate the risk of conflict with staff schedules, equipment and supplies. Responsible to evaluate effectiveness of scheduling process by interpreting performance reports specific to scheduled versus actual surgical time. Responsible to continuously improve scheduling accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include coordinating surgical procedures for multiple providers by monitoring, verifying and communicating orders. The ability to manage complex and competing resource demands within the available time constraint is a priority. This requires data collection, entry, analysis and communicating final daily surgical schedule to ANMC/SCF Surgical Clinics and Staff.
E xtensive coordination with preadmission testing and collection of necessary surgical documentation requires strong organizational and multitasking skills to meet established deadlines. Analytical and problem solving abilities are crucial to ensure care providers and staff have the needed information to provide safe patient care.
I nteraction with patients, providers and staff within ANMC and outside facilities. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, staff and management.
C oordinates surgical procedures based on allocation of OR block time, available staffing and equipment resources. Identified scheduling barriers and implements solutions to improve scheduling accuracy and efficiency. Responsible to evaluate outcomes associated with communication of patient information.
P erforms other duties as assigned.

M INIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
  • H igh School Diploma.

M INIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
  • F our (4) years of health program, communications, customer service or wellness experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

  • E xperience in the Alaska Tribal Health System.

  • C PT coding. Medical terminology.
