PURPOSE: Reporting to the Deputy Director of Operations and Governance, the Operations Manager is responsible for a broad range of financial and administrative functions in the Public Services Division. They will assist with all aspects of the day-to-day operations and ensure staff adhere to SEIU policies and procedures. They will also support union-wide initiatives and serve as a liaison with staff, officers and external contacts throughout the union.

- Partner with the Deputy Director on envisioning and operationalizing internal systems to support the work of the Public Division;
- Monitors department spending and identifies areas to streamline, reduce expenses, and implement changes.
- Supports the tracking of campaign expenditures, RAs and contributions from local unions to national priority campaigns.
- Oversees the processing of contracts, payment and financial transactions with locals, vendors and partner organizations.
- Assist with the yearly programmatic planning process including the allocation of resources required to implement Division programs.
- Leads logistical support for virtual meetings, and provides onsite logistical support for in-person meetings as needed.
- Coordinates on behalf of the department with HR regarding all personnel requests.
- Create and manage Public Division calendars.
- Document Division operational procedures, protocols, and systems with a focus on optimizing internal systems to maximize effectiveness and alignment to IU procedures.
- Develops and maintains systems to track and store critical information related to the department.
- Assist with booking guest travel for events and campaigns.
- Adhere to strict deadlines for completion of all assigned work;
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned in support of the program.

DIRECTION AND DECISION MAKING: This position reports to the Public Division Director and must often work without supervision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three (3) years of related work experience OR a combination of education and experience that would provide for the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- A high level of curiosity about SEIU and social/economic justice movements;
- Passion for improving the lives of SEIU members and working people everywhere;
- Knowledge of labor unions and their operation;
- Outstanding writing, verbal, and analytical communication skills;
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite programs;
- Skilled in developing and maintaining effective relationships with consultants, vendors and all levels of staff at headquarters, in the field and in local unions
- Ability to successfully manage multiple complex and concurrent projects
- Ability to develop, monitor and analyze budgets
- A high level of judgment, ability to take initiative, and work independently;
- Ability to work with diverse group of SEIU leaders, SEIU members, and staff in complex and political situations;
- Ability to model consistently the vision and values of the union, as well as our leadership standards;
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work in this position will generally be performed in an office setting. However, the job may require work in other settings conducive to performing the tasks required to complete assignments. Must be available for travel, including overnight stays. Travel and work beyond traditional business hours is required.
