PAINTER III

Qualifications:

1. A high school diploma or GED is required.

2. Current valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements.

3. Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language.

4. Minimum of one (1) year trade experience required, two (2) years preferred.

5. Select from pre-mixed paints and mix from color formulas.

6. Have knowledge of power tools and equipment related to painting.

7. Able to learn and take instructions, oral or written, from others with more experience or knowledge.


Salary/Pay Grade

$13.89/HS4

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2022-2023


Terms of Employment:

260 days


Essential Functions:

1. Perform assigned tasks cheerfully and promptly.

2. Work in harmony with others.

3. Complete each task with the proper written records as prescribed by the department.

4. Fill holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, plaster, or other filler.

5. Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, scraping, or other mechanical or chemical processes.

6. Remove fixtures, such as switch plate covers and decorations from walls.

7. Erect scaffolding or set up ladders as needed to perform tasks above ground.

8. Wash and clean equipment related to the painting process after each use.

9. Spread drop cloths over floors and furnishing and cover surfaces with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces not being painted.

10.Paint uniformly and rapidly to any surface, free of sags, runs, or streaks.

11.Apply finish coats to all surfaces, such as wood, concrete, metal, masonry, plaster, and drywall.

12.Assist other personnel or other departments as needed or assigned.

13.Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.


PAINTER II

Qualifications:

1. A high school diploma or GED is required.

2. Current valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements.

3. Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language.

4. Minimum of two (2) years trade experience required, three (3) years preferred.

5. Maintain and troubleshoot equipment related to the painting trade.

6. Knowledge of reducers for various types of coatings related to the painting trade.


Salary/Pay Grade

$15.88/HS6

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2022-2023


Terms of Employment:

260 days


Essential Functions:

1. All the responsibilities of a Painter III.

2. Prepare all surfaces using primer and sealers to make surface suitable for finish coat.

3. Prepare the surface for handing vinyl wall covering.

4. Make spot repairs or touch-ups to vinyl wall coverings.

5. Troubleshoot problems and take the necessary steps to fix them. Work from plans or blueprints.

6. Tape and float, and texture over any patch so that it will blend in when painted.

7. Mix paint to match existing colors.

8. Set up striping equipment and stripe parking lots and sports courts over existing lines.

9. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.


PAINTER I

Qualifications:

1. A high school diploma or GED is required.

2. Current valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements.

3. Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language.

4. Minimum of three (3) years trade experience required, four (4) years preferred.

5. Gracefully able and willing to teach accrued knowledge to fellow employees.


Salary/Pay Grade

$17.48/HS7

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2022-2023


Terms of Employment:

260 days


Essential Functions:

1. All the responsibilities as listed for Painter II and III.

2. Calculate material and man-hours needed for jobs.

3. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.

4. Observe work in progress to assure quality in workmanship.

5. Perform large-scale tape and float jobs uniformly and rapidly.

6. Remove vinyl wall coverings and prepare the surface for either new paint or vinyl.

7. Set up striping equipment and layout striping for new unmarked parking lots and outdoor sports courts as specified by UIL guidelines.

8. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.


Physical Demands/Working Conditions for all levels:

  • Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds.
  • Be available to work different schedules or shifts to accomplish tasks.
  • Be available for after-hour demands, subject to 24-hour responsibility.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Ability to work alone.
  • Ability to keep information confidential.
