Hourly rate: $17.26

The Part-Time Assessment Center Proctor assists with the coordination of operations for the high-stakes division of the Assessment Center. This includes managing check-in and check-out of examinees; administering and/or proctoring a wide variety of assessments; including paper, computer, and internet-based examinations; maintaining detailed records in accordance with federal, state, and campus regulations; performing data entry; and providing administrative and clerical support associated with high-stakes testing to the Director.
The Assessment Center Proctor is a part-time, 19 hour-or-less appointment on a schedule established by the Director of Assessment. Internal and external events occasionally necessitate an altered work schedule. The Assessment Center is open Monday through Friday year round, except when Parkland College is closed (e.g., Winter Break).
Essential Job Functions
- Administer and proctor exams; generate score reports, record tests, update/maintain vendor testing procedure documentation, and upload score results for high stakes candidates.
- Become certified as a High Stakes Testing Proctor for companies such as Pearson VUE PSI and Castle; expand test training/proctoring to Parkland departments; Health Professions Dental Hygiene, Business Training Community Education.
- Preserve current and historical examinee test records.
- Scan/upload certification requirements for FAA testing; emboss test results for FAA licensing.
- Download electronic rosters from High Stakes vendor’s customer database.
- Coordinate, track, and display High Stakes testing appointments on a daily basis.
- Follow check-in/testing procedures for examinees as outlined by clients; seat candidates appropriately, per testing room layout.
- Mail secure documents to vendors.
- Determine which exams an individual is qualified to take.
- Provide appropriate guidance in regard to timely and efficient completion of all requirements.
- Maintain test security and examinee confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels to sustain operations, typing, filing, and photocopying, faxing, inventories of testing bulletins, and other duties as assigned.
- Create, file, and update incident reports associate with high stakes vendor’s requirements.
- Communicate with relevant high stakes vendors regarding admission issues, technical issues, and emergencies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Pass a 5 year federal background check.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Effectively communicate with a diverse clientele, including individuals with English as a second language.
- Ability to interact professionally and competently with other Parkland staff, other universities’ staff, state certification boards, and national testing services to ensure a high quality testing program.
- Ability to manage a computer lab and troubleshoot common technical problems.
- Functional capacity in the Microsoft Office Suite programs, with the ability to learn the Parkland information system, computerized testing system, and new programs as technology changes.
- Written and verbal English skills and mathematical abilities sufficient to perform the functions of the position.
- Being dependable, adaptable, efficient, and able to work well under pressure.
- Ability to effectively deal with a wide variety of situations, some potentially stressful.
- A keen ability to observe individuals and react quickly and appropriately when necessary.
- In an effort to comply with SURS return-to-work restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5/15-139.5), candidates for employment at Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to suspend his/her SURS annuity upon employment. This applies to all SURS annuitants except those receiving their annuity under either the Self-Managed Plan (SMP) or by lump sum payment.
