Choptank Community Health System (CCHS) is seeking to fill part-time positions throughout our Mid-Shore locations.

CCHS has part time opportunities available for clinical and administrative positions in our health centers across Maryland's mid-shore. These positions are for 20 hours per week and do not include benefits.

Patient Services Specialist: The Patient Services Specialist is part of a cross-trained team that performs the following processes necessary for efficient operational function of a medical center: pre-registration, registration, appointment confirmation, scheduling. The position is responsible for greeting the patient and providing quality customer service in person and on the telephone. Receives co-payments and gives appropriate receipts to patients, post charges and payments to the practice management system. Verifies insurance information, assists with enrollment in sliding fee and other benefit products. Opens and distributes mail. Scans patient related documents to electronic medical record.

Medical Assistant: The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a member of the health care delivery team and is responsible for and accountable to the patients. The CMA performs delegated clinical duties within the supervising clinician’s scope of practice and consistent with the CMA’s education, training, and experience. A CMA’s duties may include the following: taking medical histories, assisting during patient procedures/examinations, collecting, and preparing laboratory specimens, venipuncture, performing basic in-house laboratory tests, taking vital signs, administering injections, using various pain scales to screen for pain, EKGs, and nebulizer treatments.

Registered Nurse: The Registered Nurse is a critical part of the health care team and is responsible and accountable to the patients. Choptank Community Health System (CCHS) encompasses direct patient care, phone triage, health promotion, patient education, patient advocacy, and coordination of services for patients throughout the health care system. Utilizing the nursing process, the staff nurse will assess and identify a patient’s health status and evaluate the patient’s responses. CCHS registered nurses maintain a safe, comfortable, and hazard free environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Registered nurses assume responsibility and accountability for their individual nursing judgments and actions, exercises informed judgment, and uses individual competence and qualifications as criteria in accepting responsibilities.

Dental Assistant: The Dental Assistant provides chair side assistance to dentists and dental hygienists in the provision of clinical dental care, including operative, preventative, periodontal, endodontic, prosthetic and/or oral surgery procedures. Prepares, sterilizes, organizes, and sets up dental equipment, ensures that all dental instruments are cleaned, dated, and processed according to established safety guidelines and standards. Monitors and maintains dental equipment, such as compressors, evacuator, radiographic equipment, sterilizers, and light curing units, in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines. Takes diagnostic quality l radiographic images in accordance with dentists’ orders, assists in the monitoring and maintenance of radiation safety procedures and protocols. Orders and maintains inventories of dental clinic supplies, equipment, and instruments. Must be able to respond to emergency situations, maintains current CPR. Maintains dental laboratory slips and creates and maintains dental records in accordance with the established protocol and procedures.

Dental Hygienist: The Dental Hygienist is a critical part of the oral health team and plays an essential role in the development of plan of care for patients. Provides dental prophylaxis, fluoride as needed, services and dental sealants. Takes radiographs as instructed by the dentist. Plays an essential role in the management of patient referrals and is a key link between providers and patients. Prepares and maintains dental equipment and supplies. Must be able to respond to emergency situations.
