position summary: As a Pastry/Bakery Cook, you are responsible for production of the bakery items, while providing exceptional guest service. Pastry/Bakery Cooks are expected to follow all safety and sanitation regulations and PDT Market standards.

essential functions:

• provide exceptional guest service and share knowledge of bakery products
• daily production, packaging, and cleaning
• assist with weekly and monthly inventory of pastry stock items
• assist with daily par levels and product rotation
• follow company policies, standards, and recipes
• follow ServSafe standards and health code policies
• ensure products are properly labeled with item, date, and price
• ensure pastry department is maintained neat, clean, and safe
• communicate department needs to Pastry/Bakery Lead
• other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• ability to work quickly + efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• basic math skills
• high school diploma or equivalent preferred
• good oral and written communication
• good customer service skills
• strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
• highly responsible & reliable
• ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team
• ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
• servsafe food handler certified (within 3 months)

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

• constant standing and walking throughout shift
• frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
• occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
• occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
• visa requirements: must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Requirements

• ability to use commercial equipment including (but not limited to) a mixer, ovens, scales, packaging machinery, and a cash register
• ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• reading comprehension - understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.

• writing - communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
