Responsibilities
Job Summary
- Under direct supervision of a licensed staff member the Patient Care Support Aide provides direct patient care for adults in a locked psychiatric unit setting.
- The Patient Care Support Aide observes patients behavior listens to their concerns and records their condition; gathers information monitors patient behavior and leads patients in therapeutic and recreational activities; assists with admitting and discharging patients; contributes to and supports the therapeutic milieu; ensures the safety and well- being of the patient population; participates as a team member of the clinical interdisciplinary team to ensure appropriate care support and resources to all internal/external customers and displays ongoing commitment to quality. Follows Marian Regional Medical Center rules policies procedures applicable laws and standards.
Qualifications
Required:
-
1+ years of experience in psychiatry or in a behavioral health related setting.Experience may include but is not limited to care giving, transportation, security, direct patient care, counseling, and services for this patient population.
- High School Diploma/GED - High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- BLS-CPR
Required Certification: Work Place Violence (WPV) / Assaultive Patient training within 1 month of hire.
Preferred:
- 3+ years of directly related experience in psychiatry. Background and knowledge of psychiatric and medical-surgical illnesses and treatments is preferred.
- Bilingual
- Current Psychiatric Technician CNAEMT LVN
- Knowledge of team-based care and evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.
- Knowledge of basic nursing aide functions
- Knowledge and understanding of the concept of patient-centered care. Ability to stay organized and flexible in a work environment with multiple assignments and changing priorities.
Pay Range
$16.30 - $22.42 /hour
