Position Highlights:

- Location: Evanston, IL
- Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week

Main responsibilities
- Manage the registration work queue
- Review patient demographics and insurance information. (Check for accuracy).
- Update registration information as needed to process charges appropriately.
- Check any errors in patient accounts (i.e. wrong billing address, accurate insurance coverage noted).
- Making sure there is a guarantor for each patient account
- Review insurance accuracy in terms of self-pay and coverage
- Manage the self-pay work queue
- Identify that patients’ self-pay designation are correct
- Track down patient’s correct insurance coverage if not self-pay
- Update coverage for bill processing
- Work closely with ED Coding Specialists.
- Participate in continued ongoing discussions with front end registration leads at all for EDs in order to limit front end difficulties that delay processing of bills.
- Query patient’s updated enrollment in Medicare/Medicaid or BC/BS websites and then send out bills after corrections.
- Limited patient contact
- Need training in the Epic EMR System.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook programs
Other duties in support of the division/office administrative work can include:
- Provide administrative support for the EM physician practice.
- Answering Phones. Will often be the first point of contact for physicians, patients, solicitors, etc. and answer questions about the division and direct them to appropriate areas. Take messages and relay to designated recipients accordingly.
- Transcribe and send out letters to patients regarding lab results that need follow-up, medication change, etc.
- Working in collaboration with the rest of our office on tasks or projects for the department. Providing support to our Div Head, Physician leads, physicians, staff, and medical education programs such as residents, medical students and PA students and fellows.
- Physician Support – Tracking annual mandatories/compliances for ED Physicians.
- Keeping an organized workspace and communal areas. Staying positive in difficult situations and adapting to changes.
- Perform a variety of administrative tasks such as.
- Compiling monthly ED reports
- Assist with Division Website maintenance
- Update/Upload ED Policy and Procedures on the intranet
- Filing & maintaining updated personnel files
- Follow-up on CME/Certification Requirements for ED MDs
- Patient interactions
- Answering phones
- Sending out certified letters (+ covid, lab results, antibiotic change)
- Scheduling of meetings
- Maintenance of ED information database
- Staff CME reimbursements
- Ordering of office supplies
- Automate personnel files
- Risk Management -Handling Risk Management related responsibilities
- Subpoena
- Deposition
- Coordinating with Legal Department counsel representing physicians
What you will need:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification: N/A
- Experience: One year of related experience is required; previous administrative experience working in a medical office is preferred; Insurance knowledge preferred
- Skills: Minimum typing speed of 20 words per minute required
