Job Title: Pediatric Behavioral Health Provider
Department: Community Health Center
Reports To: Mental Health Program Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm
Wage Range: $29.98-$42.26 hourly; depending on number of years of transferrable experience and internal equity.
SUMMARY: The pediatric behavioral health provider offers integrated behavioral health in the primary care clinic. Care is team based and the behavioral health provider consults with physicians and other clinic staff to provide the “warm handoff” of patients at the point of care. The behavioral health provider is highly available and is required to understand the primary care culture. The majority of the behavioral health provider work is consulting with medical providers and patients to provide solution focused and brief treatment in the management of mental health and substance use issues, chronic disease management, and lifestyle change needs.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provides individual, family or group counseling and assistance to program participants and their families in accordance with program policies, and the current standards of practice.
- Designs educational materials for program participants.
- Provides on-going emotional support and acts as an advocate for clients with other community support services and organizations.
- Conducts comprehensive mental health assessment to determine appropriate counseling and intervention methods.
- Coordinates and conducts support and educational groups relevant for pediatric patients.
- Performs a variety of community outreach services, including conducting informative workshops, and providing information, advice, and counsel to other community agencies, referral sources, and the general public as requested.
- Maintains client records and documentation in accordance with program requirements. Maintain compliance with HIPAA and state privacy laws.
- Make appropriate referrals for patients needing services outside the mental health guidelines of primary care.
- Participates in staff trainings and attendance of staff meetings.
- Provides consultation recommendations to the members of the care team and participate in the review of cases.
- Recognizes and educates staff that managing patient care is a team effort that involves clinical and nonclinical staff (e.g. physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, medical assistants, educators, front desk staff, schedulers, etc) interacting with patients to achieve stated objectives.
- This provider will also be available for care with 18 + patients if program need is determined.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s Degree in a behavioral health field (Psychology, Counseling, Social Work) or a closely related field;
- Considerable social work experience specific to the functional area of assignment preferred.
- Experience in providing pediatric mental health care preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid State of Montana Driver’s License
- Current Montana professional license in good standing (LCPC or LCSW)
