Perianesthesia Nurse Training Program - Recovery

• Eisenhower Health’s Perianesthesia nurse residency program is a preceptorship designed to develop and introduce the new registered nurse or new to practice RN to the Preop/Recovery setting. This program offers practical solutions to dilemmas that nurses often face and aides in fostering confidence and guiding new nurse graduates through their transition to professional practice. In addition the new nurse develops confidence and clinical competency throughout the residency program.
  • Key features of this program:
    • Estimated 5 month orientation/preceptorship to enhance the knowledge and skills of the registered nurse. Subject to change.
    • Didactic instruction with presentations and guest speakers
    • Modules from Elsevier’s MOPAN course
    • Skills/lab training
    • Develop, implement, and disseminate an evidence-based project
  • Goals of this program:
    • Transition from a new graduate nurse or new to practice RN to a self-sufficient, competent Perianesthesia RN
    • Develop effective critical thinking skills related to clinical judgment and performance
    • Incorporate research-based evidence into practice
    • Professional growth and development
• We request a 2 year work commitment post residency completion. Training for the program will be on day shift and consist of 3 shifts a week. These shifts are 12 hours in length.
• ACLS and PALS required upon completion of the program
