Who We Want

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the operations of multiple large buildings and grounds. They develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures relating to maintenance planning and operations; oversee a variety of craft workers engaged in maintenance and repair tasks, and oversee office staff and maintenance planners engaged in evaluating and scheduling maintenance requests.

EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Understands and assists in the preparation of maintenance and repair objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that maintenance, repair and operations are performed in accordance with approved policies and practices; confers with craft supervisors and maintenance planners regarding technical problems; reviews and prepares various control reports regarding project status, work projections, maintenance procedures and material use; visits work sites to ensure efficient and effective use of time, material and equipment.
  • Assists in developing, implementing and revising an on-going deferred maintenance program; assists in compiling information for the annual division budget.
  • Supervises personnel engaged in emergency maintenance dispatch and the preparation of labor, materials, and equipment estimates; assigns and reviews work; ensures subordinates development and advancement through effective use of training and employee development programs.
  • Coordinates the completion of maintenance and repair projects, and investigates, resolves and responds to complaints; confers with site administrators, division heads, craft supervisors, vendors, and contractors; prepares correspondence regarding complaints.
  • Develops and enforces work standards and guidelines to be applied in maintenance planning; researches and analyzes existing documentation and newly developed techniques, prepares formal standards and procedures manuals.
  • Directs the work of subordinate craft supervisors and workers engaged in maintenance and repair activities; assigns, reviews and approves work; evaluates the performance of subordinates; resolves craft jurisdictional disputes.
  • Investigates improved maintenance methods, materials, supplies and tools; makes recommendations regarding changes to improve work productivity.
  • Ensures proper certification of equipment (example: high reach equipment)
  • Organize appropriate training for staff regarding special equipment use, HAZMAT, and other training as needed.
  • Reviews construction documents and organizes meetings to discuss construction information and maintenance.
  • Responds and takes lead on after hour emergency calls as needed.
  • Other maintenance and operation related duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications


Any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain this would be:

Experience: Four years experience supervising skilled craft workers engaged in maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds.

AND

Possession of a valid California driver's license.
