Position Summary:
The Rare Disease Liaison (RDL) will educate medical community to raise awareness a rare bone disease, and help drive identification of pediatric and adult patients with this disease. This position requires consultative and relational interactions to educate the medical community by in-person visits, phone, video, Zoom, and email to customers. The targeted customers in the medical community are physicians, NP’s, PA’s, nursing staff, office managers, and administrative staff within both hospital and community settings. Each RDL will be assigned a geography and be provided a set of targets to call on each quarter.
You will work closely with an assigned field team member, Ultra Care Liaison (UCLs), in your geography to provide lead generation, appointment setting, recruitment for virtual or in-person lunch & learns, and assist/support their education efforts, as needed.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a key cross-functional role with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities including, but not limited to:
  • Make daily in-person calls on target accounts provided by the management. Educate target customers via in-person visits and/or through video (Zoom) interaction, where necessary, and make a minimum number of in-person and/or video calls per day in addition to completion of follow up calls with office staff.
  • Educate physicians, nurses, and office staff within an assigned territory on disease state information to raise awareness and drive both pediatric and adult patient identification.
  • Reactively educate physicians on product label and transition these physicians to the field-based Ultra Care Liaison (UCL) team
  • Develop superior disease state knowledge and effectively educate and engage healthcare professionals in dialogue about disease and how to identify patients with disease in physician’s practice.
  • Representative must possess a solid ability to communicate necessary technical, scientific, and disease management information to customers.
  • Proactively builds effective working relationships with internal/external stakeholders; can drive agreement/decisions from multiple stakeholders; ability to understand people’s emotions and flex communication style.
  • Adjust approach based on different stakeholders needs, concerns, or audience member to drive alignment and meet the goals based on the patient find from the target HCPs assigned to RDLs.
  • Achieve monthly key performance indicators, which includes but not limited to new business growth, call volume, suspected patient find, field activities including calls per day, disease state speaker programs, and CRM documentation
Technical Requirements & Skills:
  • Minimum - Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of science and business skills experience
  • Preferred - Master’s Degree in Science or Business, MBA, RN, and/or Medical related Degree.
  • Strategic business acumen, territory management skills, analytical acumen, selling skills.
  • Clinical knowledge expertise and ability to communicate clinical data effectively.
  • Work cross functionally & collaboratively with internal stakeholders including marketing, UCLs, medical, clinical operations, and patient services.
  • Ability to collaborate with our clients field partners to achieve goals from the patient find from the assigned target HCPs.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively presenting clinical/scientific information required.
  • Strong computer skills utilizing telephone and / or video technology.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills required.
  • Approximately 80% (dependent on geography) travel is required; overnight travel is required as needed.
  • Proof of Covid vaccine is required at the time of hire
  • Valid drivers license with safe driving required
  • Pass all company and product training required
