Position Summary:
The part-time Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services to the highest standard pharmaceutical care principles for all patients within their area of responsibility
Essential Functions:
- Assure safe, effective and cost effective use of drugs
- Maintains currency in age specific issues
- Strictly follows all HIPAA and accreditation agency guidelines; assures compliance with Tampa Family Health Center policy and procedure with quality related event disclosure(s)
- Maintains currency in Florida Board of Pharmacy laws, rules and regulations; maintains strict record keeping
- Provide drug information to clinicians and patients
- Coordination of the drug distribution system/pharmacy services for areas of responsibility
- Strict compliance with formulary management and therapeutic substitution initiatives
- Assure ongoing improvements in therapy and systems through collaborative problem solving, research and participation in facility and department organizational performance initiatives
- Maintain a working knowledge of the 340 (b) drug program
- Direct supervision of Pharmacy Technicians, including training and development as well oversite and monitoring of daily activities, monitoring of refrigerator temperatures and expired meds.
- Assist in Adverse Drug Reaction and Medication Error reporting
- Participate in pharmacy accreditation and audit preparation and process
- Responsible for maintaining the operations of pharmacy location, including daily cash and inventory and supplies; ensure work spaces and surrounding areas are clean
- Responsible for maintaining and integrating educational updates on CMS regulations (i.e. fraud, waste and abuse); currency in developments in the community and pharmaceutical fields
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
General Duties:
- Cooperates and works collaboratively with all care team members, plans and completes job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including utilizing appropriate judgement
- Follows up, as appropriate, on all reported complaints, problems and concerns
- Promotes positive public relations with patients, visitors and community
- Effectively and efficiently completes all duties, as assigned
Knowledge and Experience:
- Ability to work with persons from a wide diversity of social, ethnic and economic backgrounds
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Word products, including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to navigate and enter data into an electronic health record
Education, Certification Training and License:
- Active and unencumbered license to practice pharmacy in the State of Florida
- Current BLS Certification
- Obtain a Statement of Completion Certificate from 340B UNIVERSITY ONDEMAND during first 2 weeks of employment
- Complete annually - 340B University renewal course, Peer Review as well as Fraud, Waste and Abuse training
- Maintain a valid BLS card (renew every 2 years)
