Job description
Performs routine and complex physical therapy tasks including tasks of moderate to high complexity for hospital patients and in the rehabilitation and sports medicine departments. Utilizes therapeutic techniques and modalities to provide direct patient care and coordinates care with other disciplines.
Must have current Indiana license as a Physical Therapist.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice and their application including principles of safety and infection control. Thorough knowledge of techniques and methods involved in critical care and emergency nursing. Knowledge of conscious sedation processes and procedures. Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures.
- EQUIPMENT USED: Blanketrol, external pacemaker (Zoll), Zoll Defibrillator, Capnostream monitor, Cerner computer documentation program, pulse oximeter, Alaris pump, Level I Rapid Infuser, 12 lead EKG machine, pedi crash cart, adult crash cart, suction, Pyxis, Dina Mapp for vital signs, Blood Glucose machine, Nihon Kohden cardiac monitoring equipment, Mosby's computer software program and other medical equipment. Personal computer, photocopier, facsimile machine, laser printer, multiline telephone and other office equipment.
- MENTAL DEMAND: Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure in stressful and emergency situations. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Reading, confidentiality, problem solving, reasoning, verbal communication, w1itten communication, customer contact, multiple concurrent tasks, constant intem.1ptions. Considerable emotional stamina required to deal with needs of patients, families, subordinates and supe1iors.
- COMMUNICATIONS: Interacts with nursing staff, physicians, other employees, ambulance personnel, patients/ families, visitors, clergy on a day to day basis both in person and on the telephone. Performance expectations of key customers for this position include timely and accurate information as well as courteous and respectful communication.
- PHYSICAL EFFORT: Prolonged standing. Frequently lifting and moving patients. Bending at waist cleaning, lifting, carrying/pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, writing, sitting, talking, hearing handling, walking and seeing. Considerable physical stamina required for standing, walking and lifting. The typical workday involves the following physical strength requirements: Very heavy work: exe1ting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or excess of 50 pounds of force frequently.
- WORKING CONDITIONS: Primary work areas are patient care units. May work in an environment that is emotionally and/or physically stressful due to unpredictability of patient volume, great diversity of patient needs and increased risk of exposure to infectious disease. Exposure to heat, cold, dust, fumes on occasion. Flexibility in shift and schedule changes/ove1time as needed.
Category I: Constant exposure to blood/body fluids. - EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Current licensed as a Registered Nurse in State of Indiana required. BSN required or must be obtained within 3 years of hire. At least two years of Critical care, P ACU, or Emergency nursing experience is required. Requires current BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers, and ACLS or ALS or must be obtained within six months of hire. Must complete PALS within a year of hire.
- POPULATION BEING SERVED BY POSITION: Works with neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, geriatric adults.
